OK don't shoot at me I have searched and read the posts but am still not sure what the use of this is. Can someone educate me as to why I need to look at installing this on my website?

If you don't know/understand what it is, you don't need it. It is as simple as that.

PHPNuke is a PHP based Content Management System, which takes away the drudgery of creating and maintaing pages on your own. You can use it to quickly setup a portal or a news site.

Granted I just find that I may be missing out on something as I have not understood it properly.
I would like to have the ability to easily update pages and the content, but am not sure how adaptable this is. Is it like ready made web pages that restrict you or can you code quite easily. What if you want to add your own pages created in dream weaver can you do this or are you resticted to the content they allow?
I realise this sounds weird but sometimes things are just not that clear to all, and I really have not been able to get a good answer so far from my searches.

OK me again. So where is the best place to find a quick tutorial on creating a nuke website?

I see that you don't post on forums like this one that often. Here you have time to proofread and use the edit button.

Php-Nuke is probably the most full featured CMS out there, but its big drawback is its templating system, which IMO is extremely convolute and not worth your effort to create a design with.

PHP-Nuke is a CMS, which means you create a template(or rather get some cookie cutter one of some site like many people do because the developers can't take the time to make something as easy to use as, say FlingForum), then you add the content using the web inteface. You can update your site quickly and easily without the need to know HTML. The drawback to PHP-Nuke, and TikiWiki is their size, uneededly large. This may not be a problem if you have a lot of space to update your site with.

CMSes are very convienient for you if you update your site often and don't want to bury yourself in HTML and constant uploading of files.

A better CMS similar to PHP-Nuke is Dragonfly. Take a look at their website: http://dragonflycms.org. It's 10x faster than PHP-Nuke, has better security, integrated phpBB 2 forum, 30% reduced code than PHP-Nuke, and uses 50% less database calls than other PHP-Nuke derivatives.

If you want, I can install it for you. Just PM me. Very Happy
