How to tell if your cat is a pirate

sunagape
International Talk Like a Pirate Day is September 19th. In honor of this auspicious day, and to honor my pirate kitty, I have compiled a list of attributes to tell if your cat is a pirate kitty.

1) He, or she, says "arr" a lot. Pirates are very verbal.

2) He, or she, is very affectionate. Pirates like snuggles.

3) He, or she, has at least one behavior that cats don't typically display. Fetching, having other animal species for friends, high tolerance for strangers are all examples of these kinds of behaviors. Pirates are scofflaws.

4) He, or she, likes to steal shiny things. Pirates like shiny things.

5) He ,or she, isn't too particular about the litter box. Enough said.

6) He, or she, enjoys exhibiting feats of great physical prowess. Pirates like to swing from hempen hawsers.

7) He, or she, is primarily a glossy black. Pirates like to look sleek and fancy.

8) He, or she, will show their fangers when they're happy. Pirates like you to see their pearly whites.

9) He, or she, is exceedingly handsome. Pirates just are.

10) He, or she, loves to play with water. D'uh.

11) He, or she, will bite you very gently but very often. Pirates are ferocious.

I hope this list will help you determine if your kitty is a pirate. Let me know; pirates like to band together.

I just wanted to get your attention before I said, "Hi, I'm Pam from Minnesota. Some things to know about me, besides the fact that I'm a pirate cat mom is that I'm heading back to Tibet for my second trip in May, and my Chinese may actually be functional by then. I'm a singer currently performing with a trio that sings eclectic music and a women's mostly a cappella choir that sings world music. I'm also part of a small group that is committed to becoming millionaires with heart."

Thank you, and good night. --Pam

LOL.. well my cat doesn't talk Razz so she can't say arr.. but she says "meow" does that count Wink?

and like to steal shiny things.. I'd love to see a cat doing that.. that just sound weird Smile

about the rest of the things, well.. my cat is more like a little princess, like her mother (me) more than like a pirate...

I have two cats, my little Giant Pirate and my delicate Princess. The Princess doesn't speak much, can leap like a gazelle, it very gentle, and hardly ever gets the kitty-crazies. The Pirate, on the other hand, talks about everything he's doing, tries to find a better way to get "up there" than jumping, and loves to bite -- always gently, though. I love having both kitties around -- it's a great balance.

I love how cats seem to have such distinct personalities like that. I have one that loves to be handled roughly and tends to act more like a dog than a cat. He brings a coaster and drops it in your lap to play fetch. He'll run after it and bring it back to you over and over. He'll reach out and scratch you as you walk by if you aren't paying enough attention to him. He comes out to meet any stranger that comes in the house. My other cat, his littermate, is a total opposite. She likes to stay clean and pretty. She loves being pet nicely and meows for it constantly, but doesn't like being handled. If anyone comes over, she'll disappear for the day. She's defintely a better killer when it comes down to it though. Neither of them say "Arrr" but they do enjoy walking planks - especially if they are narrow and high in the air. Smile
