difference between windows xp service pack and sp 2 rc 1

as the title said.
what's the difference between Windows XP Service Pack 2 with the another one with "rc1" on it?

curious to know....

RC1 is not the final version of the software!
First comes the Release candidates ( RC 1, 2 ..etc) then the final products and then the service packs!!

For example, we all are aware of the upcoming release of IE7!

they released IE 7 Beta 1, then Beta 2, then Beta 3 and then RC1!

So, its the pre releases!

after that only, the final product comes to market!

Then, they will release service packs if they need to fix some issues or update the softwares!!
