In this tutorial i will be showing you how to make a techish looking border.
Example:
Okay, lets get started.
1. Creat an 'New Image' (CTRL+N), in this Tutorial we will make the image size 400x150, with a transparent background.
2. Fill the image with white.
3. Choose the 'Polygonal Lasso Tool" (right click on the 'Lasso Tool' under the 'Rectangular Marquee Tool'). You can start making your design, now.
Tip: While using the 'Polygonal Lasso Tool" hold shift to get even lines.
Tip: While using the 'Polygonal Lasso Tool" if you make a line that you did not want to make, or you jsut want removed, press 'Delete', it will delete your most previously made line.
4. When completed, with the selecting part, your image should look something like this:
Press 'Delete' on your keyboard. It will result into something like this:
5 You can also add holes (using the 'Polygonal Lasso Tool"), to look something like this:
6. Make sure nothing is selected, press 'CTRL+D', then right click on 'Layer 1' in your Layer Panel, and select 'Blending Options'.
7. Check the boxes named, 'Bevel and Emboss', 'Contour', and 'Pattern Overlay'.
You want to keep the 'Bevel and Emboss' settings default, but you want to change 'Contour' settings as following (the contour selected in the picture is called 'Ring', you can use any of the contours, which ever you like the most):
For the 'Pattern Overlay' you want the following settings (i chose the pattern called 'Metal Landsacpe')
8. As of right now, your image should look like this:
9. Rename your layer (right now, unless you changed it already, it should be called 'Layer 1' or 'Layer 2') change the layer name to 'Border'.
10. You need to move the border to your main image. Your main image should be the same dimensions as the border, or vise versa. Center the border to the image.
11. Now you can add any text you want. you can add text into the holes you made (if you decided to make holes).
12. Save the image! You're done!
Thanks for reading, and i hope this may come useful to you. If you see anything wrong with the Tutorial, such as spelling errors, or anything, let me know. Thanks and enjoy!
