ram

linexpert
hi
i have a hp pavilion 552w. According to hp the ram that came with the system is 256mb and 2100ddr.
Here is the other info about the system
Quote:
RAM (standard) 256/2100 DDR
Maximum 2 GB
Speed PC2100/PC1600
Type DDR
DIMM Slots Two

If i get ram that is pc3200 or 2700 will both of them work? Are they backwords compatible?

thanks

I have a feeling that your motherboard only supports up to pc2100 (266mhz). 3200 (400mhz) and 2700 (333mhz) won't work.

No, they will work fine. They will just work in 2100 speeds.

Since it is an HP, it may not like certain brands of RAM. Try to get an identical stick to whatever you already have.

Most PC3200 ram will just down their own speed to match the PC2100 ram.
