phpbb upload avatar problem

I dont know if I am in the right thread.

I got a problem, where I want to allow users to upload small size image as their avatars. but it somehow failed. The below error statement occur:

Warning: move_uploaded_file(./images/avatars/46358020745042e44843aa.gif) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/wahsap/domains/mantrafive.frih.net/public_html/phpBB2/includes/usercp_avatar.php on line 288

and somehow it says my profile has been updated, but it failed to display the image.

I think it has something to do with the database, and that is why I put the problem in this thread.

Your problem is about permission with files, not the database or more specificlly the creation or importation of one.

Quite a few people have been having this(or related) problem. So far its been suggested to make sure chmods have been applied correctly though this doesn't seem to have helped.

hmm you mean applying 777 to all related files? hmm that could work.

I've applied chmods to related files, but the failure seems did not solved.

You need to chmod the folder that the avatars are stored in to 777, not just the files.
