getting bittorrent working

Hey, well I was wondering if there was a way to get bittorrent working on a network that has tried to disable p2p.

I think I read somewhere at some point that there was a way to 'make' the network think that the files werent p2p or something like that.

Anyone have an idea?

Try using PeerGuardian 2 (google it). Rout through a proxy, or set your client to connect through the higher port ranges (60000+).

hey thanks for the quick post, but I dont understand how/why peerguardian would help, as far as I can tell, thats just to protect yourself.

As for a proxy, thats also protecting yourself.

and the port ranges doesnt work =\.

any other ideas?

Proxy isn't to protect yourself. You can get around firewalls with it too (e.g. school).

Many ISPs are traffic shaping ie. they monitor your connection for P2P protocols, some bad ISPs will actively block P2P others just resrict your bandwidth.

As far as i'm aware both Azureus and Utorrent clients support header encryption, which is suposed to confuse ISPs filtering systems thus allowing you do download as normal.

both are very good clients, although i did have a few issues with Azureus and have since started using Utorrent.
