Ok so I grew up in a very religious family. We would mention god for everything, go to church every sunday, and we even have (except for me) a cross in every room. We also used to listen to tapes about god, and put holy water on stuff, etc.
But somehow I stopped believing in god, too many innocent people suffering.
-tsunami
-my best friend, he's seriously the best, good grades, honest, etc. He got cancer, but he survived, somehow I should be thankful he survived right? NO. He got sick a year later, like a very bad fever and he lost all his memory.
-my neice. She's one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, she has a 4.0, she helps around the house, polite, but she gets seizures.
Now someone tell me why people who don't deserve to suffer, do suffer. Don't tell me god is trying to teach them a lesson, because they did nothing wrong. Me on the other hand, I have literally said 'f*** jesus, bible, religion, etc'. How come I'm perfectly healthy and live a good life?
nothing wrong with it.
that's nothing to do with God or any lesson from Him.
that's what we call LIFE.
it just when you know bad people suffer you think they deserve to got it.
and when the turn on good people you just can not accept it.
why you feel like that?
cause the way you believe on God is wrong. you should think again.
those preacher always teach human 'throw' everything to God.
you think He will protect you and everyone.
God will not gonna protect anybody, that's all just lie about blessing or something like that. God is watching us <-- this word is suit for children to make them believe.
God just give you/us the Way for better, the good way.
try to manipulate your thought. don't let it(feeling) consume you
I know that's hard to do. when thing happen to me I also get 'smoke' and need other's help.
you maybe think they are don't deserved get suffer like this. I encourage you to think differently. that's already happen. just follow the flow of water everthing will going smoothly. If you really love them you better think of helping them with whatever you can do. they will happy to have such friend like you.
Well if he's just 'watching' us, and not 'watching out' for us, then I could care less about him. Which proves my point, we don't need it, or whatever god is.
God is but an insurance that good will be rewarded....bad will get a chance to be good.So what am I saying is god a manmade philosophy?
No......the faith in god keeps you good..............I have noticed so many people trying to pull me down.......do me wrong...but not one has succeded............even though they think they have ....it never was the case ....in the long term.
so why the good suffer and bad prosper..........hey i don't care whether they are prospering or not.........but when you are saying this....you are suffering(seeing his/her joy despite being not so good)..........and only faith can.............and yes it does........defying every logic................keep your heart at peace..........something no amount of philosopy...no loogic can give you.
I know This is confusing but you got to experince this to know what I am saying.
Do you know why we are here?
Why God created us?
God doesnt need us,God just testing us in events looking for our reason.
When you see an old woman cant go across road. You help or not?
Tsunami,Maybe God wanted to see who will help them?
What will be their reasons to tsunami?[Lose their faith or strong it more(hope)]
If you have helped, hoped, been good God will help you!
If you made sins dont worry Promise you wont do it again and want to be a good person God will help you!
Believe! never lose it devil wants you to lose it , he wont help you in hell!Never trust bad!
If God wants it happens ,dont forget this too.
We are in world for examinig.
Death is end?No Its just start of endless life.
"So just think for good jobs for this world and other world.Thanksgive to God and NEVER lose your belief.Just think about this is an exam.
Want help from God.Your strength of belief is your earning in world and other world."
If you want to have mercy in other world show mercy in this world!
i do not agree with the point that god put tsunami ause.. he wanted to see what happens.. no no no its.. not the case.. I do not think so.. I belive in what called fate.. and that's where the suffering comes in.. may be there is not thing like fate.. but who knows.. and what is Gods role out there.. and why did he created us.. or really did we created God.. what ever the case is.. we humans are the stupidest living things... thus.. we will keep arguing about i among ourselves.. and we will not find the truth..

i just said what i think.
i believe in fate too.maybe you are right maybe other right i dont know.
But i believe in God this is what i think.
How come you choose who deserves suffering huh? If someone who you assumed 'doesn'ts deserve' to suffer suffers ... It would be logical to assume they do deserve to suffer ...
There has to be bad to contrast God's love. As long as evil and bad exist in the world, you will be able to see God's love shining much stronger than if the bad wasn't there.
Humans are disobedient to God, and if you created something that disobeyed you - would you be happy? My guess is no. If we all followed God, we wouldn't have to worry about the pain and suffering - but alas, it's not going to happen anytime soon.
The tsunami was caused by nature. Nature cannot be controlled, it isn't maleviolent, it just is.
It's often said that the good die young. I have a theory about that. I believe in reincarnation. I believe that we are here to learn certain lessons and we are all at different stages. When we see someone who we believe doesn't deserve to be alive, I believe this is because they have not learned what they are supposed to learn. This isn't so for all elderly people. There are other elderly people who are in someway doing a service for mankind, animals or the natural world.
I am disabled, and although I would rather not be, I believe there is a reason for it. I believe that other people are supposed to be learning a leason through my disability, and maybe not just family. Others who I come in contact with may need to learn qualities like compassion or patience.
Many people who survive life-threatening illnesses or accidents appressiate life much more. People have time to think about their life while they are recuperating and many change their way of life quite dramatically.
I hope this helps you put things into perspective.
its like Allah, God, says in the Holy Qur'an:
"I know what you dont know".
Amen to the last two posts!
God created nature first, mind you all! If God was trying to tell us something, don't you think sometimes he might use nature as a backup plan? Remember the great flood? Noah and the ark? He's let us know through nature before if we're f-ing up, and we're obviously f-ing up because Katrina (*cough*globalwarming*cough*), Tsunami... water cleansing is good sometimes.

By the Chrisitan doctrine we are all guilty with original sin. Thus, yes, they have done something wrong.
Furthermore, it is not in this world that the Christian God rewards the faithful. Your perfect health and good life are quite irrelevant since - by Christian doctrines - you will go to hell and suffer eternally.
This is pretty basic stuff, really. The Christian faith finds its salvation after death.
Your judgement occurs after death.

But what of our judgement as a whole? The whole of humanity, how are we doing and what are we doing wrong? Why are we not working together? The Bible isn't individualist. We're all brothers and sisters.
I like what Margaret Cho says about the Bible. That God just says "Shut the f*ck up and get along ... I'll be back, just shut up and get along." That's really what the Bible says.

We are raping Earth Mother. We are greedy. We use more of Earth's resources than we need. We cause pollution. Instead of recycling we put our rubbish into landfill sites. Not only sites in our own country, but others as well. we care only for ourselves.
It is said we are destroying the earth. That's not quite true. The earth will in time heal itself. Unless society changes and starts caring about the above, and more, we will destroy the earths ability to support us. In other words, humans will no longer exist.
You did ask what we are doing wrong
Crazy suggestion: THERE IS NO GOD
it doesnt exist, never has and never will...
If God doesn't exist then, what does?
God wants to teach us lessons ... Simple really.
And I don't believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster ...

If he wants to teach us lessons then why does he do so badly ? Are we bad students or is he a bad teacher ? Surely a divinity would be able to teach us anything (s)he wanted to with non of the doubt or confusion....

It is not for the God/dess to teach us, it is up to us to learn.

God is not trying to teach any lessons when people get sick. He doesn't work that way. Does he let things happen? Yes. The only way he can get involved in somethings is for us to ask him for help and even then, he can still say no.

What the hell? Could God send a disaster on the Earth just to check your reaction? What kind of God do you believe in? You made a psychopath out of Him.
God does not need to test you. And does not want to, because of His love. And He does not need to be obeyed, as he is perfect and complete.
The will of God is your happiness. Really. Many people mistake suffering for the will of God. But what kind of God should He be, if he wanted you to suffer?
But there's also the other side - He loves you and all of the people so much that He gave us the choice. He gave you His words so that you could know what's good and bad for you, but left the decision up to you. With all of the consequences. Because He takes your decisions very seriously, He does not stop you from doing evil.
Yeah, evil is what makes harm to you or to the others. To your body, mind and spirit. But God will not stop you from doing that, because He wants you to be free. So as long as there are still people doing evil there will be suffering in the world. Not a punishment, not a test, not the will of God, just the natural consequence of our evil decisions. But God has the power to make a blessing to you out of these hard situations. To make you take advantages even of your ilness or sadness. Because He wants you to be happy.
