The Leafs! Toronto fans are so wrapped up in their love for their team that they are blind to see what their team really is. I live in Toronto and hear this stuff all day long. Wake up and realize the leafs are still way out of contention for the cup, they are still lucky if they make the playoffs!
1. Buffalo - good chance, I agree
2. Carolina - depends on Cam Ward
3. Philadelphia - still strong
4. Ottawa - goaltending a question
5. Montreal - Bob Gainey is doing the right things
6. Atlanta - young and talented
7. New Jersey - Martin is still the best
8. New York Rangers - speed will help
----------------------
9. Tampa Bay - need a goalie
10. Washington- Ovechkin will be a monster
11. Toronto - Still need a total overhaul
12. Pittsburgh - Crosby can't do it all
13. Florida- nowhere without Luongo
14. Boston - Chara will not be a saviour
15. NY Islanders- no comment
*1. Calgary - agreed
*2. Nashville - yup
*3. Anaheim - ok
4. Vancouver - Luongo rejuvinates this team
5. San Jose
6. Dallas - Turco needs to stand tall
7. Detroit - still got talent
8. Colorado - Theodore will have a good season
-------------------
9. Phoenix - good moves may put them in 8
10. Edmonton - goaltending
11. Minesota
12. Columbus
13. St. Louis - still suck
14. Los Angeles - suck more
15. Chicago - really suck

No, I think you're right. You guys have Thorton for an entire season this year, and assuming his chemistry with Cheechoo continues, he'll be up for the Rocket Richard trophy. I can easily see San Jose in contention for first in their division. They will have some competition from Anaheim and Dallas, but the Sharks should emerge as victors from that particular conference. You guys also picked up Mark Bell in the Ottawa-Chicago-San Jose trade which saw the Black Hawks acquire Havlat and Smolinski, while the Senators got Tom Preissing. As an Ottawa fan, I don't get to see a lot of the Western Conference teams play. What was your assessment of Preissing last year?

Haha, right on, man. Toronto is definitely going to struggle this year, although with Maurice behind the bench, I think they'll do better than last year. I can imagine they'll be struggling for a playoff spot again this season.
I like my Sabres chances this year. 20 minutes from the cup with one of their top forwards and top 4 defense out ... this year they're returning almost the entire team ... yeah, I like our chances
Don't really have a list, but I think Pittsburgh is going to be pretty good this year. They are probably not going to make it to the playoffs, but I think they are contender for a playoff spot.
detroit all the way! ok so i am very biased and very optimistic, but that is who i am rooting for the entire way. GO WINGS!
i think that this might be how it gets into the playoffs but carolina will be eliminated and the rangers will win the cup. brendan shannahan, jaromir jagr, michael nylander, henrik lundqvist, adam hall (from carolina, thank you very much!) WE ARE UNSTOPPABLE!
