now i am using e107 although wordpress also waiting to be installed. but do you know if wordpress has anything like a download engine? i have trying to find one but couldt get any.

The plugin list in the Wordpress Codex is pretty good - http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins - and wp-plugins.net has a huge listing (though it seems to be down as of me posting this reply).

I'm not quite sure what you mean by a download engine though..
