Normally you should be able to install most software (based on php) on Frihost. Unless there are some exotic features needed, it's should be ok without any special tweaks.

We don't use php5 on the servers as it isn't compatible with a lot of current scripts websites. However we will most likely be using php5 on our next server.
In your case, you most likely will have to install a previous version of the wiki.

Indeed, that's what you'll need to do. I can confirm that MediaWiki 1.6.8 works fine using PHP 4 (I used it on a server with almost the exact same specifications as FriHost)

It may be possible on the new server (if it has PHP 5). However, please note that we don't really know when the new server will be coming...
