you tell me... read up on it if you want.. wiki has lots of nonbias info
most countries don't consider it a real religion and even go as far as to ban it in places...
only 4 countries consider it a religion I believe

ps: scientology means pseudoscience

Scientology has nothing to do with science, or pseudoscience. It just happens to have "scien(ce)" in the name because the founder wanted to create the impression that it has some basis in science. That doesn't mean that it is science or even has any realistic pretense at being science (such as is the case with pseudoscience), whatever its proponents will say.

You'll find most religions try to claim that their beliefs are "scientific", or at the very least, try to show that their beliefs are in accordance with "science". Scientology is hardly unique in that respect. There are published journals for, and foundations devoted to the study of, "creation science".

Scientologists may use some technical sounding jargon - and they may even use technological devices (their e-meters) - but that hardly elevates what their doing even to the level of pseudoscience, let alone real science.

Now, dianetics is bonafide pseudoscience bullshit. And while scientology and dianetics are definitely and inextricably related, never forget that scientology is the religion, and dianetics is the "science". Rather like christianity is the religion, and creation science is (one aspect of) the "science". Scientology doesn't need dianetics, any more than christianity needs creation science. But without scientology, dianetics is just crackpot hooey, and without christianity, the same is true for creation science.

It has been my experience that the only difference between a cult and a religion is that one is more "pop" than the other. It's the same beat, just one has sold a few more albums.

Insanity? Perhaps, but when it comes to religions, scientology hardly has a monopoly on insanity.

I don't believe that mob rule is the best way to determine what is and what is not a "real" religion, do you? Scientology may or may not meet any given government's legal definition of a religion for tax purposes, but I don't really see that as relevant to the question of whether or not it really is a religion.
