Science and Art

sarapicoazul
Hi all,

I love science and art and my hobby is to explore the link between these two i.e. to find art in science. From the remarkable images of cell structure captured on a confocal microscope to protein models based on X-ray data to the pictures of simple things such as soap bubbles under polarized light.
My goal is to build a website to explore the bounds between science and art and i encourage you to participate and approach this with creativity and experimentation. I also intend to provide an interactive source of information about scientific research on biomaterials. I would like very much to do this here at frihost.

Thanks,

CR

Greetings sarapicoazul. Nice introduction. I guess I like science and art as well considering I am an engineer. I look forward to seeing your website.

Fractals were the biggest thing last time i was on the net years ago, quite a combination of science and art, and Mandelbrot was the alternative term i think. whats new on the net regarding the Science/Art combo? any good sites you'd recommend? all the best from Adelaide australia. scotty. Smile

There are few sites exclusively focusing on science/art. However there plenty of excellent scientific illustration in science journals. My contact with science/art is mainly at science meetings, conferences, few scientific illustration seminars and my own work (X-ray crystallography). My favourite subject is confocal microscope images of cell structure using GFP or quantum-dots. Quantum-dots is a hot subject in cell structure imaging.

Best,
