ftp in dreamweaver not working suddenly

hi folks,

can't seem to get a answer from either bondings or noobie, so i thought i'd put it here for the masses:

i am having difficulty connecting through dreamweaver mx to my ftp account all of a sudden.

it was working fine until my isp advised me to access frih through a proxy which i did for a day, but now for some other reason i don't need the proxy, but whenever i try to upload to my ftp i get the "cannot make connection to host" error.

have frih recently changed there ftp addresses?

any thoughts?

i know this sounds stupid but have you tried recreating the manage site scheme thing and testing it at the bottem of one of the menus near the end of creating the site

If your ISP has advised you to access through a proxy, this will probably be because of a firewall.

Are you able to connect to Direct Admin/ CPanel alright?.

If not, check the Web Support Forum for a sticky'ed thread that tells you how to connect from behind a firewall.

nope, no firewall here at my end (or did you mean from the isp's end?)

yeah i can connect to direct admin/cpanel with no probs (i have been going there to make my updates to the site while this problem exists)

any other thoughts?

Umm.. well im outta idea then Sad

I see that aot of passwords have stopped working since the server went down the days (Alot of password requests in request account change forum). I cant log into Direct Admin.. but i can access my FTP.

I've had to request a new password. But i think you should be able to log into your Direct Admin and change your password in there. If this isnt it, then i dont know. sry. I suspect it's been like this longer than a few days?

well, I think you should take a look at the FTP Problems thread and see if you have a similar problem... try also using FileZilla, the ftp client suggested by Bondings... if it still doesn't work, post under the topic.. people will help you very fast...
