What are you trying to put it in? I don't know how to write one, but I found a good php based one. My site is based on phpBB, but has the mxBB portal over the top of it. If it's close enough, you can chop the code to whatever you need.

This can't be down in without some more advanced langage than Javascript.

Thats what I was going to say, ShoutBox..
If your handing coding it, you'll need to use a more powerful server-based language SOMEWHERE in your setup. Probably PHP, there's a ton of free to use ones out there. Google is your friend.
