This is a render I did for a school project last semester. It was done in Blender using the Yafray (Yet another free raytracer) rendering engine. Rendering time was around 18 hours.
Note: please don't ask about the wireframe on top of the lime, it is a metaphor and I'm not going to explain it

Nice work man!
Its amazing!!

Fantastic!... And I liked the wireframe!
Thanks. Any crits or comments?
The work on the water is very well done.
I'd be proud to have something like that as part of my portfolio
Wow!
I wish I could make something like that.. It looks so realistic.
very realistic, and i belive you that render time, cause looks so real, you must sell it to PEPSI for a soda ad.
tell me, what program did you use to do that?, Maya, 3dmax or what?
Hahaha, actually its 2 different freeware programs. Blender is an amazing open source all-purpose 3D modeling tool. It constantly gets reviewed as the best freeware 3D program, and in my opinion, it rivals many commercial programs.
Yafray (yet another free raytracer) is the other program. It is a rendering engine that works very well with blender. Blender even is built in so you can use it instead of the internal rendering engine.
www.Blender.org is the site for Blender. Yafray's site is www.yafray.org
Blender is a very easy to start with tool, and has a great interface. I would definitely recommend it if you want to try making this sort of thing.
it's truelly impressive... and, you're right blender is a great program...
Impressive! It looks like a picture from a high speed camera or something. You should be very proud you can make something like this.
it's really fantastic...
i like it soo much ...
i can't explaine my admiration ....
but very very Good work... of course you took on this project
the final degree ....
