ustad bismillah khan, shehnai maestro from India is no more. He died early morning on August 21, 2006.....
His death marked the end of a great era of classical music.
He was single handedly responsible for making shehnai famous. He was credited with having almost monopoly over the instrument as him and Shehnai are almost synomyms.
He has played in Afghanistan, Europe, Iran, Iraq, Canada, West Africa, USA, USSR, Japan, Hong Kong and almost every capital city across the world. He played everywhere from the celebrations of Indian Independence day to the celebrations of nomination of American president.
He was awarded with the highest civilian honour in India....
