When I just upload my photos to my site, then I use just Internet Explorer and enter the FTP-adress of my site. This works well also from my business notebook. To change the file permissions to executable for the php script I upload, I use the Directadmin-Tool. This proofed to be a very convenient way for me.

im using filezilla it is easy to use and very light ... 
If i want to upload lot of files like Joomla then i use Filezilla , and if it is just few files ... then i use my old TotalCommander - this program is immortal
