Ok, stop me if you've heard this one before..
Pakistani woman walks into an airport with "four items containing liquids"
and gets arrested.. bada cing!
Quote:
"This is such a small airport. I never imagined something like this happening here," said Shannon Bloss, who was traveling to Orlando, Florida, for a wedding.
Omg! The horror! A foreigner with liquids in bottles!
So how did this maniac act when taken into custody?!
Quote:
The woman was very cooperative, officials said.
Oh the poor people departing from that airport...

Joy Cloutre told the Herald Dispatch of Huntington that her family didn't want her to leave because of terrorism in the region. "And then we don't even get out of Huntington without something like this happening."
ok, ok, so there was more to the story than that... but sometimes it's a little ridiculous.. especially the quotes from the people waiting for planes... nothing happened! the woman wasn't a terriorist! she just had facial cream! and they're all like "omg i could have died"
sheesh
i'm not disagreeing with the airport security.. i'm disagreeing with the reactions of the travelers.
You think there would be better news than this...
There is so much going on in the world everyday and to think something so minor and trivial is published is depressing; they could have an in-depth article on how there could do future checks, or something on the current procedures they use. But no they write about absolutely nothing!
oh no! you should read my other post "Meanwhile back on the ranch"
someone found chocolate that resembles a biblical figure (not really).. and another media source stole the paw of a dog that was hit by a car.. because THAT'S the biggest news ...
There's actually bigger news, but it's not so.... amazing?.. nothing terrifing about it... you know, news without terrorists, miricle jesus food, and alien dogs...
It could be too far, but then again, they don't want people using astringents to blind others on the airplane. Overkill? Well, it could be, but with the recent terrorism plots on the airlines, nothing can be taken lightly.
Actually, they were afraid she would blow something up, not blind people... they probably never even thought of that.
She was discriminated on because she was Pakistani. Plain and simple. If a US businesswoman brought a bottle of facial cleaner in her carry-on, she would have just been required to discard it and politely reminded that it wasn't allowed. Racism happens everywhere.
This people is grazy. 100% maniac.
I guess some more new creative suicide technique has been developed. I think they have lab somewhere in the world to do the research.
What is the source of this story? Where can I read it in full?
Then I will be better placed to make a comment. It seems everyone is fully aware of this story except me.
There used to be a book out there that explained how to make lethal weapons out of anything, MacGuyver-style... for example, take a rolled-up or folded-flat newspaper, coat it in melted styrofoam (coffee cup), and let 'er cool. You now have a swordy/knifey thing. A spray-bottle of hard liquor is an effective way to mace somebody, too... nothing that'll give you the power to take down a plane full of passengers who probably aren't so gung-ho about being flown into buildings, but STILL, the homemade troublemakers you can construct whilst in flight would seem much more dangerous to me than facial creme.

I kind of get that feeling too. It would have been easy to just have the Pakistani woman discard the item(s) in question, but I believe that it was made into a big deal because of the underlying racist feelings of the people in charge. I mean, I completely understand them being worried about terrorism, but there comes a time when you have to stop letting it dictate who you treat well and who you discriminate against. A lot of terrorists are Middle Eastern, but that doesn't mean a lot of Middle Easterners are terrorists, and there's really no reason to treat them all as though they are.
This is not an unusual incident, this kind of treatment of Muslims is fairly common in USA. Most of the Muslims traveling to USA have to face such treatment at airports.
I think every nation has a right to treat foreigners whatever way they find appropriate. But it will be more appropriate for American Government representatives and Businessmen to tell the truth to the people of foreign countries when they visit them. They should not lie about racial and religious equality in USA. This may prevent many of the people belonging to unwanted religions and races from even thinking of going to USA.
