The spelling may be wrong but it looks like these prophesies are coming true. What do you think?
It will all kick off in the east
?
Spelling is right.
Did he say when?
I promise the earth will burst.
I promise your current relationship will break, at the latest, when any of you die...
It's interesting though. Did you heard about the bible-code?
A scientist read the results of 50 Boxingfights from the book "Moby Dick".
I don't believe, that he could see the future as I don't believe that meteoroligist can tell me the weather of tomorrow...
When somone applies his drivel to something (specifically and in detail) that has NOT happened yet, I will consider believing in it. But until then, he's too general to have actually predicted anything. What he says can be applied to many things.
What's interesting about Nostradamus is that his predictions weren't too specific. They were actually quite general, in my opinion, so that people would think what he is saying is the future, when really anyone could've made the statement.
Real or fake? Well, I guess I'll never really know.
Predictions cannot work by definition. Anything that is predicted can be altered or manipulated and thus the prediction will became invalid.
There are ways around this of course, but results from experiments testing the precognitive abilities generally fall within the random noise.
A prediction in order to be useful must be clear and easy to understand, I seriously believe that Nostradamus was not sure what he was talking about. There are many random things that may appear to have a pattern or a logic, it is interpretation what makes sense of things. A prediction should be read not interpreted.
I donno. I believe in God, not some Nostradamus cat.
After 9/11 I read his one prophecies and I got the chills; but then read about 5 others of the same thing that were just re-written.
So who knows what he actually wrote; and I won't believe this guy until more stuff comes true, my faith is in GOD...
i just saw the history channel documentary about him. I think that his proficies are anything that you want it to be. He didnt know what he was talking about. He did predict when he was gonna die though...
From what I know of Nostradamus, he believed in his own prophecies and left them to his son on his death. His son was then unable to interpret all of them, but had them published.
Since Nostradamus lived at a time when the catholic church was persecuting "heretics", which amounted to anyone who disagreed with them, Nostradamus felt it necessary to hide his prophecies in quatrains and by being vague.
Of course a lot of charlatans are vague too. In the case of Nostradamus however, he did not gain from his prophecies in his own lifetime, certainly not financially.
So the question we really need to ask ourselves is: "Why did he write them, especially if he didn't gain from them financially?"
At the end of the day, true or false, they make for interesting reading and they have certainly caused a lot of debate.
Nostradamus in my view is very general in what he had writen and can be inturpided in so many diffrent ways. Just like other writings I have come across, it all comes down to what you buy into. I agree with what mephisto73 said | Quote: |

He is a fake!!! he didnt predict anything. Every thing he wrote is to general and can be interpereted as anything. Evey "prediction" he has made has been true after the event happened. If they were real predictions then we would know before the events happened not make it up after.
I agree with foodman and I don't regret saying it ...
Nostradamus was a fake who used to smoke pot and get all highish ... When he is high, he claims he sees the future ... Owh ... He predicted Hister rises not Hitler ...
If prophecies were clear, direct plain language- they would create the self fulfilling prophecy syndrome.
If prophecies are vague, then the prophet could be construed as a BS artist.
Who knows- Nosty could have been bored and decided to try his luck in creative writing. Or he could have been given the powers of divine insight by God for some reason which is not the business of any other man.
One thing I can be positive though. If you're into Nosty's quatrains- you are currently a loser. Who knows what will happen tomorrow. But you can be part of it. As long as you still have one breath- you can still change the world. Don't leave it to Bush, don't leave it to laden, don't leave it to John Howard. Don't leave it to so called divine will. God created man in his image and gave us free will- which translates to anything can happen. We can all be great, we can all be in the annals of history if we genuinely desire so. Don't leave it to someone else. Go for it- go son! If you seriously don't think you have the stuff to make it- then create a few more babies and hope they have the blessing to do what you cannot. At least you are the necessary cause of your descendants.
If you look at the Mayan history many things from them have been proven accurate as well. But many haven't, the speculations and glimpses into the future are simply too broad to be based off of specific events in time. It's like me saying "The world will come to an end due to a flaming inferno."
Ok, So that happens and what could cause a flaming inferno that would end the world, a devastating volcano that would result in fire, a comet would result in fires, a flood would cause disruptions in electrical plants causing fires, the predictions of nostradomus are just far too broad to be considered a relevant look into history.
I would suggest James Randi's book on the subject to anyone tempted to put faith in the works of this cleric. Randi carries out a detailed, thorough and (I think) very revealing analysis of the prophecies and (again I think) completely debunks the idea that he was anything other than a jobbing 'seer' who struck lucky a couple of times in perfect accord with statistical probability and has since been interpreted and misinterpreted by every crackpot, charlatain, con-man and over gullible reader possible to imagine.
His book is well written and very readable (I have only skimmed it because, to be honest, I don't need to be persuafed by James because I already share his conclusions.
