DNS

Hi
I'm having a bit of trouble getting my dns to work well.
There seems to be alot of unneeded stuff in there but all I really want it for is to setup on a lan so if someone types in www.namehere.com it will direct to 10.1.1.1
and similar things for other computers..
Please help

What do u mean???
For the LAN or any other user in Internet??
For LAN, you can publish some pages using IIS!
If you publish one directory named: MySite then it can be viewable on browser on any other system on your LAN!
Just type http://YourMachineName/MySite

http://myhostname >> It wont work man!
well, 1st install IIS on your machine!
let me explain clearly!
Im posting some screenshots from my machine!
Hope, it will help you!
(For Windows XP)

1st find out the computer name: My computer >> properties >> Computername >> Full Computer name
(Here mine is Dreamz

Goto Control panel >> Add/remove pgms >> Add / Remove windows components, Select IIS and click Next!
(It will install IIS)

Goto: Control Panel >> Administrative tools

Select IIS from there!

It will show you one screen like this

then select one folder where your site contents saved
(Here Im taking my local folder nvv )
Goto properties >> Websharing >> Share this folder
(You need to repeat this step for each and every folder to be shared on LAN)

Give one name ( Im giving nvv ) and tick on all boxes in the window and click ok!
And then click apply!

Thats all dude! Now open browser and type: http://localhost/foldername/filename (From ur system)

If you need to access the same site from some other system on the LAN,
just replace the localhost with your machine name!
here mine is dreamz!
So Im typing:
http://dreamz/nvv/index.html

yeah...it is really helpful for all members....

When we connect to a Server we want to give IP of client system and want to tell the name of the computer.

it is the only solution to add client computer and we use interanet on client systems website..
