WE had installed as PHPbb forum on our wesite couple of months ago and had done nothing for it's good till now.
But today we got a plan and wanted to start the forum in the right way again..
This is what we got there..
Lot's of Porn site Advertisement posted by guests.
Go how can we stop the posting from guests and then how can we create multiple administrators.

Get the lates release of PHPBB. Guestposting is disabled as standard.
If realley not. Goto ACP (Admin's Control Panel). On left site click on "Permissions" under "Forum Admin". Select a Forum and take "advanced mode". Change "All" uder "Post" and "Reply" to "Reg". So no more guests are allowed to post. Only registered people.
Multiple admins:
In ACP goto "User Admin" and select Permissions. Select the username, you want to become an admin. Then change Userlelve from "User" to "Administrat".
ALSO I WANT TO DELETE LOTS OF ACC.. THERE ARE LOTS OF UNNEEDED ACCOUNTS MADE IN THE FORUM.
HOW DO I DELETE THEM??
1. Every single user via ACP. User Admin --> Management. On the bottom of the page, is a field. Delete User.
2. It's also possible via PhpMyAdmin or a phpscript which searches the database and deletes all userentries, you want to delete. Therefore you'll need a textfile or an array which contains all the usernemas. Or just type it (will take longer, depends on how many users you wanna delete).
It's best to add as many security mods as past as possible. I have the same fake account problem, and it has just gotten worse and worse. Deleting the accounts just takes too much time.
I have a forum feed on my front page, and this morning there was a really explicit porn post there. Grrrr... :-/

Make the email verification thing during registeration . How do i do this???
And ya.. how do i get security mods installed.
Email verification is also in acp. "General Admin" --> "Configuration"
Enable account activation: User
None means no activation, user can access immediately.
Admin means, that you as admin have to verify each user.
Goto phpbb.com or phpbb2hacks.de.
Download any security mods, that might be interesting. Each one has a manual in form of a textfile in the archive.
One more thing..
When i go to my ACP.. it says that my PHPbb is of a old version.
So i have downloaded the latest version.
Now how do i upgrade to the latest version
Omg. Did this yesterday and it didn't work.
Normally, you only have to download the lates files. There's an archive with only the changed files in. So just replace the old fles on your server, with the new files from the archive.
That didn't help unfortunatly. I made a database backup via acp, deleted the whole board and installed the new version. As I came into acp, version 2.0.21 was displayed. So far so good. But when I wanted to import the database I couldn't. So I did it via PhpMyAdmin. After the backup, the versionnumber was on 2.0.19 again. I opened the backupfile with a texteditor and deleted things like config and so on. Then after 3 hours of work. Finally my board had the new version.
I hope you're more lucky with your update 
The phpBB board is down. Wonder if they were hacked?
