I have seen several inexpensive VOIP providers but no free ones. I am guessing that there is not enough opportunity for advertising dollars to warrant this type of business model.

When you play games online its really distracting and generally annoying communicating by typing, especially on strategy games. So there's these Voice Over IP programs that allow to communicate with a microphone via your IP address.

I'm actually participating in coding a VoIP project for my IT company that will be sold to professional corporations. To be more exact, it's more than just your IP, it's more utilized via things like Asterisk which utilizes PBX.

Maybe you should clarify what you are looking for. I was referring to VoIP solutions like Vonage in which a VoIP router is used to connect a standard phone to a broadband connection. There is no computer software to load and no load on your computer's CPU. This is what I was referring to.
There are lots of software-based solutions that are free. Ventrilo is one such solution.
