According to latest news http://www.soccerinside.info/2006/08/terry-named-new-england-skipper.htm
What do you think about him ? So he's the best choice ?
i think steven gerard
is more eff and more suitable to be the captin
he deserves
not terry
by the way
terry is a good defender
but i don't know
i feel he is not suitable for this job
Terry is a very good defender but I don't know if he has the leadership qualities that a captain needs.
Terry is too far from stable, I know he defends well, but he always makes some mistakes.
John Terry has great potential no doubt, but is he experienced enough to become the England captain?
I think that Steven Gerrard has more calibre than Terry of becoming the captain as Stevie knows how to handle the tight situations of pressure.
Beckham wasn't that bad either.
Terry is a high class central defender but i dont think he is the best to be captain,Steven Gerrard is better for captain
I think Terry will make a good captain, though im surprised he was chosen over steven gerrard, maybe it was because mclaren has realised that lampard and gerrard cant play in the same midfield togther so cant guarentee gerrard to play in every game whereas theres no such dilemma in the center of defence.
they shout make steven gerard captain
then he may play as well on national team as on liverpool
Should Terry even be in the starting eleven? I can't see how he has outclassed Rio Ferdinand/Sol Cambell. He is definitely flying on the coattails of his club's successes.
Anyone watched the Sunday's game?
As I have said, Terry can't help making mistakes EVERY TIME!
I'm really disappointed by this result, at least I think Steven Gerrard should be the captain. I don't see how Terry is more capable than Steve in being the team captain. Anyway, I don't feel good about this new coach. 'Killing" Beckham in the england national team the very first match of his? I don't know if it is wise though. After all, Beckham was the one leading England to advance to the round of 16 in the world cup. Also, by looking at his past record, I don't know what would england turn into under his lead.
I prefer Gerrard to be honest and its nothing to do with the fact that I am an Arsenal fan.
I just think that Gerrard has a steel determination to win, I dont see it as much in Terry even though people say its there, its just not as obvious. There is a lot of hype around him and you have to give him is credit he is a very good defender but I just dont think he should've been captain. I also dont think that McClaren made this decision without thinking about what the press and whoever else will make of it. All the own cronies were yelling for Terry and they got what they want, I just hope hes not gonna keep it up because playing to the press is the last thing the England team needs.
John Terry is a suitable candidate for captain and here are a few reasons why:
1) He is consistent in his performance. As we can see from his performances for chelsea, he has been a rock in the chelsea defence, been scoring goals from corners and has been really consistent for almost the whole season.
2)He is fit and doesn't have too much injury problems. Yes i agree that steven Gerald can make a good captain too. But in this department, he can never match John Terry, cos Gerald seems to have a lot of injury and fitness problems.
3)John Terry plays in a central position and is charismatic. Moreover he doesn't have any off the field problems and gets into any trouble or anger management problems. LOL unlike our young rooney. Cheers!

exactly!
he holds the defence very well and doesnt break down on the pitch.
Much better choice than gerrard. Terry was brought up by Chelsea, unlike Gerrard who was an Evertonian as a kid, and left us for the Reds.

He doesnt have determination to win?
You've got to be kidding me.
Did you see the Chelsea match in the states against the all star squad?
He was the ONLY one going up trying to win it. The fact that it was only a defender who tried to score is quite sad.
Terry has much determination to win.

out classed ferdinand?
come on, the only time I've ever seen ferdinand play with "class" is during the World Cup. Never for Man Utd. He shouldnt even be in the starting 11 of the Red Devils.
I can understand the decision by McLaren to make Terry captain. He's a more consistent factor for the English national team than Gerrard. Who certainly in the partnership with Lampard never showed the stuff he does at Pool. Although there he ain't always the same class either, but in the bigger games there he at least he comes up with the goods most of the times. At England...
Terry is good player but i think steven gerard

never said he didn't, I admire the fact that when half the chelsea squad cant be arsed he does try. However when you compare Gerrard to Terry there is no way you can tell me that Terry wins when it comes to determination. Sometimes it looks like Gerrard is ready to kill just to win the ball. Terry has patches and thats the problem with him, there are times when he makes me wonder.
John Terry is the best choice for England captain as of now. I personally think that it will be very good for him to lead England. Being a captain of Chelsea one of the best English Premier League teams I have full confident in him that he will be able to do well. Captaincy and his field position seems to fit very well too.

of course gerrard has that fight to win more, he's an attacking midfielder.
Terry i think attacks alot for being a defender, especially on corners. Theres only so much you can do as a defender. He's definatly the best defender that England has now, very consistent.
Were Terry in the defence when we trashed you 5-1 last year?
I guess when he was chosen as the captain by England team, they have their own reasons. So, we can just agree with them because although we disagree with Terry being chosen, he will take on that respnsibility and tries his best to be a great captain for England
I guess the general concensus is that Gerard is a better option as captain. And I agree. He has not leadership qualitites.
Gerrard would be good, Terry? No he's not a great captain look at him at Chelsea, he doesnt lead the team.
