Shiatsu

claymoreteddy
We have had an interesting couple of posts about Reiki. I would like to know how many people out there know about Shiatsu and how many people have benefitted form this very powerful treatment.

For those of you who do not know, Shiatsu(finger pressure in Japanese) is a Japanese massage technique, based in ancient Chinese Anma and western manipulation techniques. It has definate grounding in traditional oriental medicine and has several different school or discipline sets, ranging from Namikoshi to Zen to Ohashiatsu (probably the most modern). In general, Shiatsu practitioners observe the body's meridian system and the flow of Ki (chi/qi) through these channells. This energy flow is said to be the source of our vitality and health. Through massage techniques, using thumb, finger, knuckle, elbow, feet, knees the meridian points (tsubos) are balanced, encouraging good ki flow.

Post questions if you have.

what religion are you? Wink

I don't subscribe to any one form or discipline of spiritual practise or dogma. I prefer to take what makes sense to me and try adopt these things in to my way of living... In the process, hopefully not harming anyone around me, not judge them and try to be accepting.

I think so many of the world's great religeon's Truths have been tainted by mankind in a bid to manipulate and control people throughout the ages. Perhaps its safer to just pick the pieces that feel true inside you?

I agree with that.
Knowledge along with feeling only proves the truth.
Look at feeling alone. It has decieved many in a religion. The followers refuse to accept the truth.
Knowledge alone, leaves religion boring, dull, uncommunitive, and simply untrue.

Only when you have both can you experience the truth.

Mankind does try to control religions. Look at the church's history. But the truth will never change. God is One and Only and Submission is the religion given for us.

Can you give one excersise of shiatsu please?

My friend had once reiki session, her ex-girfriend grandmother was someone high in reiki. So he went to her, sit there all day, had that session, and after all he told me he feels better, and everything he do he does better. Also that she opened his meridians and now he feel the ki. He entered the first level or something (i dont know reiki theory good, and that was long time ago so i don't remember good, but i think you know what i mean).

I personally dont belive that, i think he felt better because he sit there all day spoke with her about reiki, had that session, and his self imagination make him feel better. Also we both trained kung-fu that time, and i didn't notice any improvments in his fights.

Also i trained Tai-Chi, i know about ki and 12 (?) meridians in your body theory. And i think it's crap also. Even my instructor told me that, he spoke to some doctors, also he has doctor student. The conclusion is that all can be explained in biology or medicine. Yeah i feel something you can call energy in hand when i trained Tai Chi or warm in my hands, but that was only blood, which came to my hands after hour trainings. Nothing more than that.

Loyal: I am not sure what you are asking by an exersise in Shiatsu?

Hyhy: I respect your view on this matter. I would however like to point out that Ki is very much present in your blood, but that alone can not be proof of its existence. I always tell people to remember that not too long ago, flying was considered a magic art and not a science as it is today. Science was arrogant of the bounds of its knowledge then, and still is today. Science seems to be unable to accept that what it knows is infantile compared to what there is to know, and is further hampered by the egos of scientists unwilling to consider things out of their scope and this slows development down. Biology, Science.... blah blah.... they can not even decide on what a healthy diet is! One week its Atkins, next week fruit only, yet they refuse to admit that they really know nothing of the human body and of life.

If these are the people that you would like to do your thinking for you, please go ahead, and I wish you the best. Otheriwse, just stop for a moment and think a little more about how complex life/health/physics/biology are, and consider how likely they are to be right. I am really not suggesting that traditional oriental medicine has ALL the answers, but I respect it in its humility and I have seen for myself that it (and its theories) work. I have seen modern allopathic medicine work in many instances sucessfully too, but I have seen it at it's most destructive too (Ritalin, Camcolit, Zyban....). There are many phenomenon that 'Science' can not explain, yet can easily be explained by oriental medicine...

Think about it my friend, don't let people think for you.

my question was, can you give us an excerise we could try?

e.g. for praying, bow, prostrate, say stuff.
claymoreteddy
loyal: I'm not sure you understand what Shiatsu is. It is a massage treatment and hasnt much to do with praying or lying prostrate (unless you are maybe receiving a massage). Good exercises (in my opinion) would be yoga, pilates and tai-chi if your instructor is VERY experienced.

Haha what does flight has common with Ki? They can decide which one is healthy, but they can't decide which one is most. Anyway every humans body is little diffrent and for everyone diffrent diet is best. That has also nothing common with Ki.

You think im not thinking? Just read something and say that's true? I think about every aspect of life, and yeah life/health/physics/biology are complex. I would like to see that what you claim to be seeing. Anyway you don't present any proof of Ki existance. I don't belive in magic, gods, and Ki, things which are result of someone thoughts, and never can not be proven, or just their output or results can not be seen. Can you shoot with your fingers?

hyhy: If you can not see the parrallel I was drawing, I am sorry, but any attempt to further explain things would be futile.
