Trojen Horse. Damage: Destroying Files. It can be easly found by any vires scanner and killed.

(Unkown Vires) Damage: Causes your computer to goto a blue screen all the time if you have windows and is undedectable with any vires scanner. The only way to kill it is to save all the files you have on a cd and reinstall windows or anyother program that you have and if it still happens say good bye to your computer. Because the hard drive or mother board is fried or damaged badly and other hardware can be damaged exept for your monitor.

Windows:
Any kind of bad processes.
Start a clean system. List all processes. Especially number of svchost.
If system does things it never did. List processes again.
Look where the exe of the process is (Use ProcessViewer instead of TaskMgr). Check if any process which is new belogs to any kind of tool (WinampTrayAgent eg or OpenOffice Quickstart)

Run system in protected mode. Check out the files. If you don't know them delete them.
Or run every process. And check out what it does.

I used Internet 2 years without any firewall and without any malwarescanner. It worked great.
