with the ne motherboards with the intel 965 chipsets and nvidia 500 series southbridges, apparantly theyve dropped support for ide /atapi or something.
can anyone confirm this as when i looked at the photos of the motherboards, they seems to have the 40 or so pin connectors used by ide hdds and optical drives?
also, if it is true that they have dropped ide/atapi etc, would it be better performance wise to either -
buy a pci-e ide controller and plug my optical drives into that
OR
use the exsisting sata ports on the mobo put plug one of the sata-ide converters inline
