Well, I found it for about 10 bucks (since it's not brand new anymore) and I loved half-life, so I bought it up. I got back home and I can't install it because Windows Installer has some crazy error. I tried everything and I still can't install it.
Man, that sucks. So, anybody played Half Life 2 then? Tell me what I'm missing? How about the bundled game, Counterstrike?
Counter Strike is a great game. My friends used to play it. But it's best played with a significant group of players. It's more fun playing with humans than with computer players.
Half life 2 is my best game. i like play in this game
To help your with you problem: Do you have the latest Service Pack for your Windows installed? That should fix the Installer.
Mine installed just fine without any problems, on two of my computers. Half Life 2 is good to play for a few hours, but I got bored. I much prefer online games, whereas HL2 is just playing against the computer, some bits make you jump mind you, but the graphics are good and it's quite a fun and interesting game to play, you can get into it lets just say that.

I really like Half Life 2 graphics are more improved here than the previous.
I do agree, the graphics are great.Overall it's a very good game, it's just I find online games much more interesting and fun to play. Forgot to add about the graphics.

Well, the nice thing about HL2 packages is that it comes with some excellent multiplayer games and support for mods. You get a lot for your money. I used to be a big multiplayer only guy and HL and HL2 were first on my list of purchases for just that reason, but because I had them already I decided to play through the singleplayer. I ended up loving it and I'm hooked. I can't wait for Episode 2 with the included Portal and Team Fortress 2.
"In the mean time", Garry's Mod is barrels of fun. (literally and figuratively)

Get your self the latest SP and if that dosent work try downloading the latest win installer and update your old one and dont forget that you hafto be online to install the game
HALF LIFE 2 deathmatch is the only game i play
Half Life 2 and counter strike, my favoorite games.
Half Life 2 it a wicked game i have played it heaps and i never get board of it i think every one should play Half Life 2 it a good game i give it a 8/10
Do you have steam because you need steam and it should work but I think Steam automaticly installs when you install HL2 so I think you need SP2 for Windows and I think it should work.
I have HL2 on my XP SP1 machine and it has never given me any grief. I would agree that installing Steam separately is a good idea.
HL1 was the best money I've ever spent on a PC game -- between all the various mods I've probably spent several thousand hours on it (my undergrad studies weren't all that hard
). I liked the story of HL1 a lot, and while the transition to HL2 was a bit jarring -- if you've played even a hour of HL2 you'd know what I mean -- I thought that the story of this one was engrossing as well. I just ordered a new HDTV, and when I get my PC hooked to it I think I may get Episode 1 to play on my new 30" monitor
The only problem I have with HL2 is that I haven't been following the mod community closely enough, so I don't know much about what's "hot". Maybe we should start a separate HL2 "favorite mod" thread?
Half Life 2 is a great game, but there is one thing about it that gets annoying. That is the steam Installing thingy. I think that is what you are having your installion problems with!!
I totaly recommend the game and I give it a 8 out of 10!!
Steam game installation is easy, provided you're not trying to install from the CDs. Just download the game from their servers and register your copy of the game.

You know what I've learned? That nobody cares what every little person gives a rating to each game. If you want to review games, get a job at gamespy or start a review site, otherwise, just shut up.
The fact that you need a internet connection to install a singel player game (whit MP support) is stupid... it dosent affect me but its still annoying!

I'm just sick of people running around rating games with their own 0-10 scores when nobody even cares. Unless you work as a critic, then just shut up, cause noone cares what your stupid game ratings are.
I personally love it for xbox although there's no multiplayer
but it's awesome for the computer (i played it at a friends house.) well good luck to you and i hope it installs (i'm not good with computer errors. otherwise i would help.)
yes, there awsome games, a must play. but I don't think you can play used games with sream, your going to have to buy it again.
I recomend hl2 episode 1 also, the beging might be a bit slow, but it pick up quicly after. so much fun, it worth the 20 bucks.
I love Half Life 2 alot. Steam pisses me off from time to time, but over all I dont think its all that bad. I had to get a new graphics card to be able to play it but now its awesome. I dont know how they make games like this. i still cant run it on high graphics.

Half Life 2 is great, and I can't wait for episode 2 and when they use that new portal device, it looks amazing, even better than the gravity gun in HL2, boy that was fun near the end...

yeah, if you like the super grav gun you should try hl2 ep1.
and ftw the portal gun will not be hl2, its a seperate game that will come with hl2 ep2
Love this game, trying to complete this and then I'll play Episode One.
HL2 is probably one of the best game in the world ever. Im not a big FPS fan, but this game I really sat me into and played out. But im disappointed on myself because I still havent played Episode One.
anyway, Hl2 rocks! \o/
Great game!!! the multi player isnt that great but single player is AWSOME. Story line is very good. Counter strike is very good also but usually is only fun when you are playing with other people.

Anybody know if they're planning to package ep1 and ep2 to sell together? I haven't had time for ep1 yet, but it looks great.
You got to get HL2 installed, its just about the best singleplayer game I ever played. Theres just so many cool bits in it and the graphics are sooo nice.
But unless you got plenty of spare money I wouldn't bother with episode 1 as I found it quite expensive for how much game you get. It took me no more than 2 hours to play through the whole of episode 1 and the first 30 minutes not much really happens... you dont even get a gun or even your crowbar until like a third of the way into it.

I agree that the first part is gay, but after that when you get to the zombies, its just so cool.
