If you are into fantasy then this guy has to be the most under read author in North America (he's from the UK). His books are primarily hero based fiction and I've never read one where I was disappointed....definitely check him out

Indeed Gemmel's work is fantastic i did read almost everything from him. Its heroic fantasy at its purest and whats even more great is that he always derive from real world history, Rome, Mongolia... Even his fantasy element is somewhat based on "sciences" like parapsychology, ocultism, spiritualism, astral travel. So yep i can definitely say give him a chance and read atleast one of his books.
The only thing i may mind is that all his books do have similar concept and story structure but i am not yet bored by it.

I started to notice the pattern as well....but it didn't stop me from burning through every book he's written that I could get my hands on.
