I am considering buying a new car. I want a family station wagon and I hesitate between the BMW 3 touring and the Audi A4. I am afraid of the propulsion of the BMW but the spaces of the A4 seems a bit too small. Does anyone has an opinion about the traction vs propulsion concern ?
Audi A4 or BMW Serie 3
I own an Audi A4 (2001).. the sedan, not the Avant.. but I've driven and ridden in several Avants, so I'm pretty familiar with those, as well.. unfortunately, I'm not very familiar with the BMW, so I won't be a great source for comparison info
that being said, I absolutely love my Audi, and would have probably chosen the Avant if it was within my budget at the time.. the Avant rides very well for a wagon.. and the Quattro package is outstanding.. if you have snow or heavy rain much during the year, it's the best investment I can recommend
the inside of the A4 is good in the front seats.. lots of leg room, but with the adjustable seat and steering wheel, it can accommodate anyone.. the same can't be said for the backseat.. I generally apologize immediately when someone sits back there.. the leg room is probably just enough for an average person to sit for short periods of time.. but since I probably have someone in the backseat less than a half dozen times of the year, it's not a big deal to me
depending on the engine, the acceleration varies from good to excellent.. and steering response is extremely good.. possibly as close as you can get to the BMW in a different car.. definitely a german feel.. I've raced my car on a touring track near my house that rivals anything on the Le Mans series (Road America, Wisconsin) and the car is extremely fun.. even better than my 5-liter Mustang was
braking is also superb.. I've got the stock brake setup, and I'm very happy with it.. I think I freak out my passengers sometimes because they think I'm supposed to start breaking a full 2 or 3 seconds before I actually do.. but they quickly realize that the car doesn't need the advanced warning
all that being said, I still might consider trading my car for a Bimmer someday.. but it's doubtful I'd trade the Audi for anything else
you can't go wrong with either choice.. just drive both and see which speaks to you.. and most of all, enjoy!

I think BMW 3 series.
At this moment in time, Audi makes the best cars in the world! And personally i do not rate BMW. The parts are overpriced and so are the dealers costs. im not saying tht Audi is the cheapest in the world but they are more reasonable than BMW. Build quality is much better on the Audi. Obviously these are my personal points of view but good luck whatever you do!

To get started, why exactly are you looking for the station wagon body style? Just to help me understand where you are coming from to help you with your decision.
