Suggestion: disable google indexing on Forum

Another suggestion:
I found out that the entire forum gets indexed and one can look up the discussions on forum on wide Internet.
I believe this information should be advertised in FAQ, rules etc.
I do not have any reasons for doing that, and maybe this is a bit too paranoid, but I would welcome disabling forum crawling by web crawlers.
What do you think about it?

Ummm, I'm sort of against that. Google indexing helps bring in more people, and it can help anyone with a link on the forums. You can get more visitors to your site that way.

Pointless. Maybe if we were trying to hide the content from guests yes but as were not whats the harm. As SBA already said it increases hits and members levels as well, proving a good thing to do/have.

I'm actually spending a lot of work to get it indexed on google, msn and yahoo. Wink

I also would like to know because I have never gotten this to work on any site I've made.
