If I embed an IE tab (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/ ) in my FF window do I have FF level security or IE level security?

No, because you are using the IE engine, which follows all rules be IE and not firefox. That will only allow you to use firefox as a vassel for internet explorer.

Although you replied no to an either or I think I understand you to say that the embedded IE window will only offer the IE security.

its the same reason that your other firefox extensions wont work inside an 'IE-Tab'
