prob : Stop computer from sutting down after command

hellrahul
In windows (I have XP)

Can Windows be stopped from Shutting down If I have clicked the Turn Off button.
TomS
I think it is possible, by replacing the "shutdown.exe" in the system32 directory (or was is in windows?).

But then you need a extra tool, for a save shutdown.

I didn't understand.
If i remove any shutdown.exe then I think I will not be able to shut down It.

I am asking. If I have already given shutdown command (I have pressed TURN OFF button) then is it possible to stop shutdown process.

Sorry. I didn't understand.
My explanation was, that your machine won't shut down, if you click the button.

No. There is no way to abort the shutdown process.
Because all programs are shutted down, before the computer turns off and no programs are allowed to start then.

Thnx for help

If you are quick enough, you could run shutdown -a from a command prompt which will abort the shutdown process.

And also, If you had any program that has a save prompt (notepad, MS, etc) by clicking "cancel" when it asks you if you would like to save, actually stops the shut down process =P

What you do for that is
a) don't turn off the computer until you are realy sure that you want to
b) type shutdown -a on a run line if you are fast enough
c) just restart it

There really is no issue here, you told the pc to shutdwn, and it does it
