*These rules will be kept here if future generations wish to take over the Daily Guess A Number Game*
Since I have alot of Frih$'s, I've decided that I want to give them away, but here is the catch: You have to guess the number I'm thinking.

A SHORTENED VERSION OF THE RULES IS BELOW THESE LONG PARAGRAPHS
Every morning, I'm going to think of a number between 0 and 100, and the person or people who guess the correct number each day will receive, let's say, 100 Frih$'s. Simple, no?
But, Scott, you say, how do we know you aren't going to change your number just to be an a**hole and not give us your money? To answer that, I can be a douchebag when I want to, but when it comes down to it, I have no sick satisfaction in having someone guess the number I'm actually thinking of and just change it to be an a**hole. Not only that, but anyone who participates does not have to contribute an Frih$'s, so noone's got anything to lose by participating. Plus, I want one or more people to volunteer to be judges, and I will tell them the number in the morning via private message. If I suspect someone of cheating by having the judge send a PM to somebody so that they can get the Frih$'s, then I will fire the judge and continue pro bono.
I will try to have my numbers mapped out days in advance and I will try to send them to my judge, but if anyone cheats, then I will just start using random numbers. I will not use the same numbers over and over again, and will try to change it up constantly. Remember, it's all in good fun, so I want to ask anyone who takes this seriously to just not post.
You cannot post your number more than once or post more than one number daily. If you do, I will only take your first post and your other posts will not get carried over to next day.
It will start tommorrow, when I make a post that says "Day 1, Begin" and will end when I say "Day 1 End" and I will do that every day, and I will not end it and change my number any time someone gets it right because this is not my optimal way of spending time. Do not make your posts until I say so, because if you start guessing before I say "Day 1 Begin," I will not accept them. If I end it and someone across the ocean just guesses, your guess will be carried onto the next day. In the even that I do not begin or end a day, keep posting anyways, and I'll accept them during the next respective day.
Top 2 people that get the closest will get lesser amounts. Number 1 closest gets 30 Frih$'s. Number 2 gets 20 Frih$'s.
FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE TO READ ALOT:
1: You win 100 Frih$'s if you guess my number between 0-100.
2: Post once a day and only once, I'll only take your first post.
3: Cheating will not be tolerated!
4: It'll begin when I say it begins.
5: Don't post until I say so, because they won't be excepted.

8: The top two people who get the closest get less denominations of Frih bucks, 30 and 20.
9: The day will end when I say it ends, not by the concept of a normal day (see shortened rule 6).
Ok, people. If you want to volunteer to be a judge, just post here or PM me. Let's just remember to have fun, don't do drugs, always drink milk, and stay in school. Again, it begins tommorrow when I say it begins!
The Finale Days Rules *No Longer Valid*
1. Each day, there will be 3 numbers between 0-1000, and they'll change each day.
2. There are no 1st and 2nd runnerup prizes during The Finale Days.
3. It's winner take all, the first person to guess one of the days 3 numbers gets all of the Frih Bucks that I have at that time.
4. If more than one person guesses one of the three winning numbers, the person who posted first wins it all.
5. The Finale Days will keep going until somebody wins, and since I post everyday, the pot will get bigger. You can also donate to me to make the pot bigger.
6. Another winning number is added everyday, so there will be easier for someone to win.
7. You can only guess once a day, as usual.

Nobody gets any Frih$'s. I will admit that some people have come very close to today's number, but noone has got it yet, so I was thinking of maybe doing a rollover kind of thing, but just because I have tons of cash, that doesn't mean I can give it all away. Let's take a look at the current situation:
We've got 26,54,71,88,59,35,51, and 82.
Let's put them in order: 26,35,51,54,59,71,82,88
If you look the chances of you winning or getting second or third place are very low if you guessed a number between 50 to 60, since there are 3 people guessing in that range. If you were to guess "25" than your chances of winning atleast second place go up to 25% or you'll have atleast 1:4 chances of winning. That's a great way to raise your chances from 1:100 to 1:4.
The best time to do so would be after everyone has guessed or the contest is about to end. What do you guys think of this? Just thought i should share it with you guys.

Good work, linexpert. Is that how you got 2 2nd Runnerups in a row or are you just lucky?that's how i got two 2nd runner ups before. This time i guessed before most other players so i was just random. That's not bad thinking, linexpert.
I was guessing numbers near 25, 50 and 75 because they gave a wide range on either side. It's a bad idea to guess a number that's right at the top or bottom of the scale, because then there's less chance of winning.
I'll explain: if you guess 25 then you have a wide range of numbers either side, it's unlikley that loads of people will choose numbers that are 5 - 10 higher or lower than your number. So there's a higher chance that you'll get the number because there are 10-20 numbers that not many people will pick. But if you guess 1 then there's only half of that range, because there's no room for numbers that are lower; and the reverse for 100.
Unfortunatly the more people play, the smaller that range (5-10) gets; I think it might be slightly less already.
This theory is using the same idea as linexpert's. The idea of people not voting too close to each other but choosing the spaces. I'll guess 5

The idea of this contest was that I just wanted to give away the large sums of money I have. Once I get to the point where I can't go a week without running out of cash, then I'll ask someone esle to take over until I get enough to fund it again. As for now, I've still got more than 1000 bucks, and things are going fine. I'm doing my best with posting and getting more cash, but things are running smoothly as it is.Ooh, ooh! Fun! I'm going to think of 3 numbers between 0-1000, and the first person to guess either of those 3 wins all the Frih Bucks I have. There will be no first and second runnerups, and each day, the 3 numbers will change. The Finale Days will begin and end like normal days, and it's winner take all. If more than one person guess one of the winning numbers, then the first person to guess will win it all. So, good luck to all of you competing in the Finale Days, and take tommorrow to rest, because, there'll be no guessing tommorrow. Ok, guys, you don't fully grasp the concept of this. The rules are in the first post, but here are some guidelines:
There are 3 winning numbers a day between 0-1000, but that doesn't mean you get 3 guesses, you still only have 1. My normal rules still apply to anything I haven't mentioned, so the guessing is still the same. Now, because things didn't go right, and because I don't have my numbers with me, Day 25 will not end, but every guess before this post is null and void. All guesses will begin again now, and remember, one guess between 0-1000.

Well, that was my original intention. When I first started it, I was getting lots of Frih Bucks at an alarming rate, so I started a contest where I could give people my money. Whenever I need money, I always ask Bondings first, because he's a nice guy, and he has alot of cash, but most of the time, the people playing this aren't for the money, for some reason, they just think it's an awsome contest, that's why I don't like it when they donate to me money, because I gave them so much, they're just giving it back.Are you still accepting donations? Because I don't really see the use...

I know double posts are annoying, especially when the poster doesn't change their second post to acknowledge their mistake. But I have to say something on the side of the poster for this, as this has happened to me a few times.
I have had situations where I have clicked on the submit button, and then my internet connection's died. So the page doesn't load, and I click back and then submit again, and end up making a double post, because the internet connection died after the post had been made, but before the new page could be displayed.

Maybe he went to look at something else on another site, or was doing some work at the same time and just clicked onto another window and then came back 4 minutes later. I've forgotton about something for over an hour before I came back and realised I'd lost connection with the server. Heh heh.

This day's been soooooooo long. When's it gonna end rightclickscott? Sorry about how today is being handled. As I've said before, I've lost quite abit of interest in this contest. In truth, I've been bust working on other things, I'm writing a new novel, because I love this story, and the new comic I'm doing has been consuming alot of brain power. rightclickscott did that a few times too. We just carried on as usual then - just as we did now. I think there should be a note to everyone in the rules or something that says that the day will continue, if you forget to start it. Otherwise things could get confusing and people may miss days. But it's just an idea. Sticking with 54 today.

It doesn't work like that, mikethm. This is called "The Daily Guess A Number Game"; you have to guess a number on a day to win anything, if people could 'register' a number then the game would loose quality and fun.

The days never begin or end by any specific standard time. They begin and end whenever the person running it feels like it. When I used to run it, I tried to end it at around 10-12, eastern US time. As you can tell, things didn't work as well as I thought they would. But they ran well enough to keep a steady fanbase. I have no clue when Nikki begins and ends her days.

Haven't you set your timezone to GMT+5.5, saratdear? If you have then look at the times at which .you.make.my.heart.happy. has posted her Day beggining posts and you'll find out. But obviously they're not constant times; but they usually follow a pattern. Day 68

Hey guys just to clarify this issue a bit I will attempt to explain the way I start and end days...
Well I normally like to end my days at 8:30 or 9:30 in evening. But with my unusual schedule (having two families and visiting all the time), I sometimes find it somewhat difficult to be consistent. From now on though, I will try my best to end the days around 8:30pm or 9:30pm.
Oh yes, and by the way I'm pretty sure my timezone is GMT - 4
I live in Ontario, Canada near Toronto. Just in case anyone wondering.

Well I'm gonna explain anyway so that other people do, even though it's likely that no one actually cares. You created the variable "eight" and made it a string; this means that it is text. You then said that it equaled "8". As it is a string when you add it to itself then it appends itself with itself, thus making 88. If it equaled "cheese" instead it would return "cheesecheese".

saratdear, unfortunately your idea won't work. Or at least, not tin the way you've planned. Even if there are 2500 active users you won't get 1 FRIH$ from all of them. Most people don't browse the market place forum (where the thread would have to go, I presume) and you won't get that many people donating. It might be worth a try, just asking people for as many FRIH$ as they are prepared to donate.

The original creator of this game and former winner has now taken complete control, once again, of the Daily Guess A Number Game. However, as you may have noticed, I'm at a very low amount of cash. So, before I start this game up again, I will say this:
I am looking for donations. I have sent my PM out to Bondings who usually gives a generous donation. So, if you want to give me donations, be my guest.
Also, there is no guessing right now. A new day will start up, and my goal before I completely disregard this game is to reach 100 days. Mystery solved. I figured out exactly what happened. It was not a server error, or any staff member editing it. I was speechless when I discovered to answer so I'll go ahead and explain what happened.
Yesterday, I had a friend over and we were tweaking a computer. We then took a break and it that time I was showing him Frihost and explaining how it would be a good place to host a site. Then, the phone rang and I went to get it. In the mean time, my friend, somehow, managed to figure out my password and edit some of my posts. By the time I had returned, he had logged out of my account. Earlier today, I was talking to him via IM. Here was a part from our conversation.

Accouple of things I want to address.
Because wombat used white, I have to say please use a noticeable color for your number. I don't mind when people use numbers, infact, when they have tons of text, a colored number helps me spot this easily. So, please, don't use this or this and maybe once in awhile this. These colors are too bright and when I'm quickly scrolling through everyones post for numbers, I hate having to sit there trying to make out what number it is quickly.
Another thing, because of how big this thread has gotten, I'm asking everyone to please tone down on the chatting. Sure, one funny line of text is nice and it doesn't make it so your number is on the far end where no one can see it unless they scroll over there, but when you include mounds of pointless text that don't include guessing a number at all. I love it when people just put their number and nothing else, it makes it easy to spot when I'm zipping through everyone's guesses. Like I said, you can include a line or two of text if you want, just make your guess visible.
And, no, it doesn't matter how many times you say you change your answer, the first guess in the first post I see by any one person while I'm marking down winners is the one I'm counting, no other one but that.
If you could all keep those things in mind, I'm sure we can keep this game from being uncluttered and easier for all of us to enjoy! If I see people constantly abusing bright colors and making mounds of useless text, I'm NOT counting their guesses. I'll ask the mods if we can create a discussion thread for this contest made specifically for mounds of useless text and so players of the Daily Guess A Number Game can get to know each other better.

So, please, after you hit the submit button, just wait, and don't hit it again. I'm going to take an quick stance on this and say that if someone double posts and advises that they didn't mean to, and if they don't ask their post to get deleted before I take down the winners, I will not count their posts. I'm sorry if people think this contest has gotten a lot stricter, but this contest has most likely taken up a lot of space on the forum. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing tons of guesses in a single day, but you need to pay close attention to you guesses, ok?

Oww, I liked putting in my little comments on how the game's going in all of my posts. But I did make sure my guess was easily noticeable; may I continue to do so? Or should I just post with my guess in future?
Personally I don't mind this becoming slightly stricter, I follow the rules anyway and I haven't made many (I can only remember one - but I could easily have forgotten some in 96 days) double posts. Furthermore the contest should be cleaner and easier for you, RightClickScott, to check through. Also, I'll stop my 'chat posts', and keep anything I want to say to my 'guess post' (unless there's some über extreme matter which needs to be immediately addressed).
I can bet now that some mods will get slightly irritated when they receive multiple PMs to remove the same posts; especially if another mod has already dealt with it. But oh well, I guess this is unavoidable; at least it won't happen too often.

Personally I don't mind this becoming slightly stricter, I follow the rules anyway and I haven't made many (I can only remember one - but I could easily have forgotten some in 96 days) double posts. Furthermore the contest should be cleaner and easier for you, RightClickScott, to check through. Also, I'll stop my 'chat posts', and keep anything I want to say to my 'guess post' (unless there's some über extreme matter which needs to be immediately addressed).
I can bet now that some mods will get slightly irritated when they receive multiple PMs to remove the same posts; especially if another mod has already dealt with it. But oh well, I guess this is unavoidable; at least it won't happen too often.

This is the first double post that got through in awhile. I've actually seen the Mods in action dealing with double posts, so why is this one still here. Ok, here's what happened:

I guessed it might be something else but I thought it best to suggest the thing which made it look like you were doing it for the game. I wouldn't like to suggest something like 'is it because you can't be bothered anymore?' because if it was to improve the quality of the game it would make me look at bit harsh. • rightclickscott has stated that he is not too interested in this game any longer
• rightclickscott has offered the choice of a weekly guess instead of a daily one.
Look at the facts and think. The Daily Guess A Number Game is over, and a weekly one is unlikely and would be a chore for rightclickscott.
I recommend ending this day and making it a final day.
The only thing that can revive this contest now is a volunteer, someone who is prepared to run it in place of rightclickscott - whether they do this daily, every two days or weekly it doesn't matter but I'm sure we can all see that rightclickscott really doesn't want to do this anymore. He is, furthermore, under no obligation to do so.
End the contest or switch over to another person to run this, I don't see any point in continuing it at the current rate.

I don't visit Frihost all that often anymore, but, say, if someone else did that for me, I would actually start this day up again. You wouldn't even have to do the normal prizes, I'll do those.

I've also been getting suggestions for new things. One guy wants to take the game over, another wants to create PHP script for the game so it can be run automatically. Until then, I'll think of something.

Because rightclickscott hasn't ended the day yet, he must have his reasons and you don't need to ask him what they are or get impatient and post messages like these as he'll only see them when he comes to finish the day anyway. All you need to do is wait, only guess your number and/or donate to rightclickscott, nothing else is required or desired.
