how can u hide or protect a folder?
you could hide folders within folders, but it isn't a really secure way.
to hide text files, use stega something locknote. it passwordprotects your stuff.

If you right click on the folder and then go down to 'properties'. In there you should see a tab on the top called 'security'. Click that. You can then allow certain users on your computer certain permissions. There is also an 'advanced' option in the security section with even more options. I have not really messed with this function, but it is there.

Can Use Hide Folders XP, works with XP only (obviously), protects your folders by password, also protects your folders even if the parent folder is deleted.

you can hide the files, but if iyou dont want 3rd party software, just zip it with a password. Kinda tedious, tho.
If you are using NTFS partitions along with WinXP then you can apply lot of security attributes to any folder. It is not completely fool proof but provides you with a very good grade of security.
Look for the security tab in properties.

That is only in Prof version...
Folder Access 2.0.0.exe
If you use NTFS instead of FAT32, as suggested earlier, you can limit browsing of your entire filesystem by user. Set yourself up as the administrator, and don't give the password out. Then anyone else who uses the machine will have a different user account, and have varying rights of execution, viewing, and read/writing, based on the criteria you specify as the administrator.
You need to choose NTFS as the file system when you install XP.

There're many programs to make that; what they so is that they make a folder on your disk and hide it; then you open the program and it'll ask for a password which you have written before. Then a folder is opened and nobody will know about it! It's cool!
