Zone edit?

Bourgondier
Can somebody tell me something about Zoneedit.com? I dont understand
how it works. People told me I could register a free real domain like
.com en .nl which redirects to my own page at frihost or an other host.

Is this really true? Can somebody please explain it to me?
Thank in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dunno about .nl, but you've got to pay to register .com domain names. So it is unlikely that you can get free domain names on .nl or .com.

That said, there are a number of countries with very little demand for domain names, and they often let you have free domain names. (IIRC one these is .tk, Google for more results). So yes technically you can have a free domain that points back to your site on Frihost.

Zoneedit.com looks like a place where you can park your registered domain names. From their FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) :

Quote:
What services does ZoneEdit provide?

ZoneEdit hosts reliable DNS servers, e-mail servers for email forwarding, and web servers for URL forwarding and parked domains. ZoneEdit provides a convenient single-location, integrated, web-based domain manager for configuring all of the services provided.

The free service (domain parking as well as email services is probably just a lure to get people to use them to register domain names.
