I never knew FriHost had an IRC channel.
I think the reason IRC isn't as popular for this community is that the channel is on the DaLnet server. Back when I was on DALnet, it was pratically one of the most horrid servers out there. Netsplits out of the wazoo. Sometimes it would take a long time to connect too.

Indeed, and unfortunately DalNet is still the same... :/ Why not quakenet? Its the most stable network and now even more popular than IRCNet.
As a former DALnet Services Admin, I must really refrain from comment on the reliability of other networks.
