Don't you get taught it in school? I know about it in quite a lot of detail due to learning it for my GCSE Mathematics course.

I remember learning it for two years of my junior school.
But still during the college i have learn some new engineering knowledge such as "tanh" "sinh".
Nevertheless, wikipedia is always a good start, i think
