Do you think tsunami will going to strike again? i watch in national geographic channel saying that tsunami will strike again at somewhere in europe, not sure. What do you think?? what will you going to do that time??
Tsunami!!
I'm not sure I think it has a lot to do with luck (like wind speeds etc) but you can tell when volcanos are going to go off I beleive. That's what triggers them mostly I think, and earthquakes of course.
Nobody really knows exactly when or where the next one will hit now, but we may know an hour or two before it does. They are caused by volcanoes on islands that are so violent, they knock off half of the cone into the ocean, similar to Mt. St. Helens except next to the ocean, and then of course only undersea earthquakes where one plate moves upward.
Tsunamis have nothing to do with wind. Tsunamis are caused by displacement of large amounts of water.
When an earthquake or volcano erupts it often adds a large amount of material into the sea in one go. The water that has been displaced must move aside and a radial wave is created.
Most Tsunamis are caused by earthquakes and eruptions under the sea, but even island quakes and "visible" volcano eruptions can cause Tsunamis. A large asteroid can also displace enough seawater to create a tsunami.
Depending on the shape of the underwater landscape and the type of displacement a radial wave can be very deep under water. A ship in the deep ocean might not even notice a tsunami moving right under it.
The dangerous power of a Tsunami is created once this deep wave reaches a land shelf (continental shelf or island). The land shelf is much, much shallower then the deep ocean and the entire wave is pushed up onto it and its power condensed.
As the radial wave rushes out its strength diminishes. In general the further away a beach is from the quake that created the tsunami the less damage it will cause. However, the layout of the land the tsunami encounters can greatly affect the power of a tsunami.
A bay or lagoon will focus the wave and increase the damage; a tall cliff will protect those living on and behind it; if the land behind the beach is low the water will move deeper inland...
Tsunamis can occur anywhere on earth that's near a large body of water. The more seismically active the region the more likely a tsunami will occur. Tsunamis often travel long distances, it's not uncommon for an earthquake off the coast of Alaska to create a tsunami the hits Hawaii.
Large scale Tsunamis have occurred all over the world including Alaska, Portugal, Canada, Chile, Italy (a landslide caused a dammed lake to overflow), California, Japan, India and many, many more.
Some scientists believe that we will one day witness a huge tsunami impacting the entire east coast of the USA when half of the island of La Palma (one of the Canary Islands of the north western coast of Africa) would collapse into the sea. The massive wave created would take 8 hours to hit the east coast but would have awesome power and would probably destroy low-laying cities (Miami, Boston, New York ).

Yes. But when and where, nobody knows.
Would it be possible to harness the energy of a tsunami for electricity generation? OK, I know that it would come irregularly bu there is alot of energy in a tsunami wave and any energy extracted would mean a "calmer" wave hitting land plus extra energy generated.
A tsunami won't hit Europe, there aren't any major earthquake zones in the North sea or Atlantic, prehaps the Mediterranean.
You would have better luck trying to use lighting storms as an energy source, those at least occur more often then a tsunami. Then there would be the problem of moving the machine that could possibly assorb the power in a tsunami, and the fact that you get little to no warning when a tsunami is unleased. Besides I don't think there would be enough energy gained to outwheigh the damage of large to medium sized citys, not to mention arguments over who would actually get the power from the tsunami.
Are you joking? Tsunami are everywhere where is an earthquake and earthquakes will be for sure many millions year till the heat from the core of our planet ges out. So I say yes....tsunami will be but must probable they are in the active zones.
Yes, I surely will be more tsunamis but hopefully the peoples living nearby will be warned in time this time.
A tsunami can occur when you have a quake from 5 until 10 on scale on the sea bottom.
When you are nearby a sea and quake happened, it is important that you must see the draw back in the sea in specific patron, when you see that, you must leave immediatly.
In the region with great activity, like volcanoes and quakes is the best chances that a tsunami will be born.
I am living in europe and in our regions are not so much quakes and if so, they are happening on land.
The best/worst place is in the Ring Of Fire. If you want to know where the ring of fire is. you chack this with Google earth and you must show the volcanoes.
Then you will see the ring of fire.
The location can be found between the Indian Ocean and the Great Ocean. Specific the region around Indonesia and further.

History repears itself, so tsuami can occur anywhere at any time.Nature is very unpredictable, it strikes at any hour!
From Chennai - South India, I experienced tsunami first hand. I woke up at morning 8. Some time later, we heard a noise. My mom asked me what the noise was. It was doors shaking and hitting the wall. It increased with time. There were screams all over. Looking out, several others were outside thier houses minutes before. They screamed for us to come out. Our house was a half hour drive from the sea. After hours we returned home and watched the tv. They called it a mild earthquake near the sea. Slowly it's real face came out. It has been declared as one of the largest disasters world has seen. What we saw was shaking of the doors. We were saved coz of a few km from the sea. We recovered the danger by donations and people helping each other. My cousin was very near to the sea then. This is the real event -
My cousin lived in a house from where you can see the beach. That day morning, a small boy was playing in the sea. He heard people running. The boy came running to his house and said - 'Come with me to the terrace fast. I want to show you something'. Every house from that flat was called. They all went to the terrace and saw that the sea water was coming. Few minutes later, water filled upto first floor of thier house. They might all have died except for the boy. The water felt.
Another tragic part - I know of a family which was totally washed away in sleep. Knew nothing. All dead. Deep regrets.
Tsunami is a recurring event. It has happened before and will happen again. It's only a question of what the disaster would be.

A Tsunami will strike, but the million dollar question is: when? I've seen many theories that state that the northwestern coast of the U.S.A. is due (or over due) for a Tsunami. Only time will tell.
Yes a Tsunami will deffenitly stirke. If you know anything about Earth science you would know. But when.... i dont' know. Its really hard to say when. But thats all it takes is for an Earthquake to happen somewhere out in the ocean or out by the ocean
