i have rented a programmer to install a script in my domain so can i give a different password to him so that he will be able to access only one folder

i don't think so its possbile but you can give different password for secondry domain even that will be master pass word for the secondry domain
You can create a seperate FTP Account for him.
Login to Direct Admin, click FTP Managment >>Create FTP Account >>Give username and password of new account and select "custom folder" , here you can give the url of the folder you want him to give access to.
