My definition of a terrorist is of one where a person or group attempts to further their agenda (what they want) by harming regular citizens. These people are obviously desperate, and have convinced them selves that what they are doing is ‘good’. This is not unlike a common criminal. Certainly, these organizations don’t have an army available so this is all they can do, but this is no excuse. If these people are truly sincere about their cause they would propagate (make grow) it intellectually.
It is my understanding that most of the people doing these acts of terror are people recruited and indoctrinated. In other words they have been convinced by others to do these things. The leaders want something so they convince these others to sacrifice themselves for the ‘cause’. These lower people are usually poor and angry, easily convinced that there pain is being caused by those people or this idea.
Hizbullah is a criminal and Lebanon should have put forth more effort in subduing him, or at least making and operant effort rather than looking sympathetic. The leaders of Lebanon are charged with the responsibility of protecting their people. It is terrible that the Lebanese people are going through this. They where finally free and under a democracy but obviously not strong enough to deal with such groups as Hizbulla’s.
It is also my understanding that Israel is surrounded by neighbors who simply would not like them to exist.
From my perspective it looks as if Israel is being overly aggressive in subduing Hizbullah but I am certainly not qualified to say, I don’t have missiles landing in my back yard. Canada is within easy missile range of my home. I Hizbullah was throwing missiles into my neighborhood from there or kidnapping our soldiers and Canada was unable to stop him I would possibly support such use of force.

i had a look at much from your posts and it seems clear that you're smart and clever i respect your opinions but , there miss somthing in the definition of terrorist ! "Terrorist" is a word used so often and so loosely that it has lost a clear meaning , but be sure the information you have are not enough to judge, “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter,” i don't know how many people agree with that definition?

The classic definition of terrorist is of an entity using ‘terror’ as a weapon. In other words an entity that attempts to disrupt a society by making the citizens fear. This is almost always done by attempting to harm the citizens so a quick qualifier for a terrorist is whether or not he is targeting civilians.
It is true the word terrorist is thrown around a lot and in some places along side ‘freedom fighter’. I think my favorite one is, “G Bush is a terrorist, he lead the US to war and war is terrible so he must be a terrorist”.
Also, in ‘all out war’ such as WWII citizens are targeted. I don’t think this would qualify as a terror act because in all out war the warring factions are using 100% of their dispensable productivity to destroy the other. In this situation each citizen is contributing to the war effort.
So I guess if I wanted to convince myself to be a terrorist I would only have to convince myself that I was at ‘all out war’ with someone……
