What was the most AMAZING thing you have ever done in life ?
And I don't mean:
Passing my driving licence
Kissing my dog
or saying NO to my girlfriend.
What I want are those really amazing things you have done.
The things that other Frihosters would say WAAAAUUWWW on.
If you know what I am saying.
Well I will start with my amazing accomplishment.
I was always a skinny type of guy in school. So whent I decided to join the Belgian Parachitist Regiment everyone went NOOO man don't do it.
The fact that I wasn't the Shwarzenegger type AND I was of foreign origin made the challenge bigger for me.
So when after four months I got my "dagger" (=commando) and another one month I got my "wing", the sky had no limits anymore for me.
I was the best, toughest and proved all my critics wrong.
That is when I found my selfbelieve back.
I got out of bed this morning.
Last year one of my best friends and I, went out in the beginning of the spring back in my lake. It was frozen but we did not know that it was only about half an inch thick ice and could be broken. I ran across the entire lake, like a fruit cake and my friend was to scared to go halfway, so he went back while we went seperate ways, all of a sudden a hear a help help! Im drowning! scream and I run back and my best friend is stuck in the freezing lake. He couldnt get out because the ice was to slippery to grab on, and the water was deep, about 10 feet by the shallow area, and 35-90 feet in deep area. I ran for him and luckily I saved his life. This is one of the most AMAZING things I have ever done in my life, be a HERO.
Everybody has their own things....
Mine is as follows.......
My parents amazing thing - They gave birth to me...
I went to scooling - THen higher secondary - Finally my Graduation.
Instead of doing an Professional Degree, i opted to do an Science Degree in a Leading College with a Top University in my Country.
Then some Crush
with a girl was the most amazing thing that i have ever done in my Life.....
There were two things in particular in my life that I found as gigantic accomplishments, aside from "Sleep Deprivation Weeks 1, 2, and 3." The first one is actually represented in my Hall of Fame as a plastic Revolver. I helped one of my friends steal a vibrator and handcuffs for herself. It was just something pretty awsome in my eyes. Another thing made it so I wasn't afraid of anything. I don't know if it actually happened, because, I'll admit it, I was totally sh*tfaced, but it still has impact on me. I, apparently, jumped off of a 4 story parking lot and lived by rolling when I landed. After that, and I'm still not sure that it actually happened, I really wasn't afraid of anything anymore.

1. My absolute favourite subject is drama but my teacher said I'm not being confident in myself enough. I tried so hard to become confident so that I could succeed in my exam and I ended up getting 98%, top in the year.
2. I survived this year.
3. I have never had a jab in my life and I am just fine.
4. I stopped this girl in my year who was really horrid to me, sent me and a friend hate mail and threatened to kill us commiting suicide.
5. I told my PE teacher where to stick it.
Well i would have to say getting 20 feet far off a jump on my quad. What i mean is i hit a crappy jump and it threw me 20 feet in the air (on the bike)
Also if you look at my avatart making it through that mud 3 times with out getting stuck on that type of quad is amazing.
Then when i was in elementry school in 2nd grade they wanted to hold me back (they didnt'). In 4th grade i was in some thing for reading support same with when i was in 5th. Then in sixth i was all fine in academics (placement of classes). I moved up to honors for math and science. Then in eigth grade i am all honors. Damn i want to wipe that in that ****** face who wanted to hold me back.
Oh and passing eight grade spanish with ms. braddock. That is one amazing thing to do. And just to show you how hard spanish was with her. I got a 54 on my final.
Nothing really breathtaking, for most but I really got a charge out of the following:
My first solo landing in an high crosswind
A flight on a B-17 (my dad's old ride in WWII)
Sliding from to tree to tree in Jamaica on a conopy tour
The above I recommend to all, the following I do not recommend:
Out-running a police car (I was young and stupid)
Hitchhiking across the US
I finally gone through another school year, I never thought it would go so Fast.
But what I find more amazing is I finally Launched my Business and Crowned myself as the President, CEO like 48 and somwhat hours ago.
(Making me one of the youngest Entrepreneurs at 16
)
Now I'm working behind the scenes with my League of Evil Minions on my diabolical plan to overthrow the world government to start a new World Order where I am King. <SARC> Maybe next year.

Ahhhh hell yeah, massive respect. I've got such a bad reputation with the PE department these days.
made a 92% on my science exam xD
I became a Dad.
I came across 5 NVA Regulars (Vietnam) that were fully armed, my partner was out of commission, so I drew my Jammin' Jenny (M16-a1), and true to it's name...it jammed. I was shot once but pulled my good old m1911-a1 .45 Colt autoloading pistol and my bayonet....bottom line, I was shot again, but I am here to tell the story....they are not. My partner and I were Medivaced out of the area...after the napalm strike. Ironically, my older brother was a member of the MIKE force to extract us....now that made me feel safe at the moment
Not very pretty, but absolute fact...I got my life, and a (second) Purple Heart (this time with clusters), and my first Bronze Star.
Best thing i did was a 150 meter Bungee Jump in New Zealand...

getting into college that so many people want it
getting job that so many people want it
getting a free professional hosting in frihost
1. programming a dos game at age 10 in pascal, (though it was ACSII)
2. learning to play all the notes in the staff on the trumpet in 6 months in 6th grade, though i am way better now
3. never drank or done drugs (im 18 in dec.)
hey my compliments for item 3
Hat of for not using drugs.
I only smoked once a joint. That was because of my girlfriend who said it was great to s*x when your high
After the first blow I ended throwing up next to the bed
And the girl ? ? ?
She is my ex.
I am happily married, have two children and am also proud not to have drunk ever
Getting shot by a shotgun and surviving!!!!!!!!
how the hell did you get shot by this shotgun man
There's a bit of a list of some more "amazing" things that I've done in my life so far (I'm only 17), but I guess I'll start. One thing that I'd like to mention and not put in my list is passing my driving test the first time around, as a lot of kids that I know had to redo it several times before passing.
1. I drove the farthest I ever done only the other week, around 400 miles (one way) from Chicago out to Columbus, OH to meet an online friend.
2. On the trip I took from #1, I got in my first car accident and survived. My dad was the man of the day and saved me by dragging the car home with me in the truck, and him not being pissed off at me.
3. Around the year 2002 I got together with a lot of friends in an online chatroom and made my own webgame, with the friends being staff members for the site, until sometime in 2004 when I sold it. I am presently making another gaming site and hope to make this new one better.
4. Around the year 2004, after selling the website in #3, I started something different and got interested in computer hardware, and built my first custom computer. It's my fastest machine to date, but I don't really use it much. I really should soon. I use it for storage since 40GB is good for something.
(I bought that hard drive new only because it was the only thing I could afford at the time, but there's no real need to get anything bigger for that PC right now).
5. I saved up 8 weeks of my pay (I only get around $125.00 a week at my part-time job) and bought my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop around February 2006 for $750.00. It took that long since I had to spend money on gasoline for the car, and for my own sidelines for keeping me happy.
6. Since this was mentioned before, I never got drugged up, smoke, or drink. I have no need to, and I seen several people die from my work over several years from these things (one died of lung cancer from smoking and another burned out his liver from drinking too much)
This list is still to be concluded, since I'm still so young. I plan on doing these things definately later on in life :
1. Finding the perfect lady and getting tied down.
2. If #1 happens, then I'll have children more than likely. (How thrilling it sounds to have them !!)
3. When things work out the way I want it to, my dad, my sister, and I are going to be joint partners in our own apartment building, where my sister lives in one, I live in another, and we rent out the rest. Whenever we want to get out, we can (it seems like) and move into our own house.
4. If my life goes out more according to my plan, I'm thrilled about thinking of starting my own business and making money off of that too.
- Mike.
Dont ever try to jump a toyota corolla with a mongoose bmx bike- the rear window will break!
My greatest accomplishment would be......birthing my daughter with no pain killers....five hours of pain heh. It was worth it though ^_^
I have accomplished many things. Along with these, I have accomplished several amazing accomplishments.
1. I saved my brother when he was 3 from a car speeding by. he walked into a busy street and i dove and sort of surronded him with my body preventing any serious injury to him. To my luck the car drivers were paying attention and skidded to a halt and saved my life.
2. i met alex ovechkin and even inspired him a lot. its kind of odd if your the one that inspires a pro athlete.
3. Made a website. To me itts an accomplishment ok.!!!!!!!
4. Hacked my friends "unhackable website". after this he took it down hahahah
I have to say being french is quite amazing. People are always like "wow how do u do it and everything"
i guess its just in me. now thats amazing!
has to be saying no to a girl who asked 4 unprotected
riding on a ballerina
it was terriblee (6 years ago)
I think the most amazing thing I have ever done was witness the birth of my child. We were tired and exhausted, but the feeling was phenomenal.
I used to be into model rocketry and was testing a rocket that was close to 3 feet tall. Unfortunatly, the parachute timer didn't work correctly and the parachute never opened. The rocket was comming back straight tword me. I think the most amazing things i've done is avoid the rocket by running arround in circles.
id have to say breathing.
no this isnt spam, i jus cant be bothered to explain how.
I finally got contact lens after wearing glasses for about 11 years. I love them and you can't even tell if i used to wear glasses. With some people you cal tell by their eyes look that they used to wear glasses.
Well I have to say my most amazing accomplishment was to catch a theft that stole my aunt's cel phone. He just took it from her hand and me and other 3 or 4 guys start running to catch him. But they got tired so I was the only one who got close; I grabbed his arm and he dropped the phone. I stopped cause I have to say, I got pretty tired too. But afterwards I heared that 2 guys catch him like 2 blocks from where I stopped and kick his arse :S
Cause this is a pretty small town that was my "make yourself popular" action. lol.
I took an insane decision to follow my childhood's dream of becoming a character animator, in a moment of my life where everything seemed to go well for me in a different direction. I was doing my master's in the US, I had all kinds of opportunities, but I put it all aside when I discovered the world of 3D computer graphics and animation. It's a decision that changed my life and continues to change it, for the better, and I'm happy I did it.

Why not? I was thinking to do this for a long time. (with a friend for a little bit more safety).
Can you tell us about your experiences? (new thread if you like)
My most amazing thing? Jeez, I keep going over my life but nothing seems too amazing in retrospect, though I thought they were pretty cool at the time.
I survived being hit by a 65 mph SUV (and recovered in about a month from punctured lung and broken ribs, which they said would take 6 months at least.) I gained some weight during that month, but not too much, and I got rid of it by the following year.
I've been eating at least 99% vegan for the past 6 months.
I've lost 15 lbs /year for 4 years running.
I mooned (non-native-English-speakers: pulled my pants down and showed my ass to) my entire high school student body during a Halloween parade.
There was once a coupon offered for free 2 LT bottles of Sierra Mist and me and a friend went store to store one night picking up as many as they would let us take until we had 52.
I've read a lot. Probably too much. I don't know if that really counts, but hey, in 3rd or 4th grade I needed 5 sheets to fill out my summer reading list at the local library (nobody else had more than 2).
I pulled off a 5 (out of 5) on the English Compostion AP test even though I wasn't enrolled in the class for it, which was better than everyone else in my school (nobody tied) and tied with one other in my first high school.
I didn't care very much about my college applications so I sent in essays to two schools about masturbation.
I've broken into a lot of places I shouldn't have been (not to steal or anything), and been on the roofs of 30+ buildings. One time at my college I went up into the roof of the football stadium still being built, set off an alarm somewhere apparently, and 8 cop cars came to stop me from whatever they thought I was doing malicious, but I convinced them I wasn't and they let me go with a warning.
I've gotten more confident and I'm proud of how I handled myself in my previous two encounters with romance, though they didn't work out.
I've been exercising by playing an hour of DDR every day for the past month or so and I'm hopefully going to keep it up.
I've stayed in touch with 9 good friends for over 8 years, and with 2 of them for over 12. Considering I'm not yet 24, that seems pretty damn good, half my life.
I sang karaoke at my school's all-night graduation party. (Billy Joel--Just The Way You Are
)
I was accepted to 100% of the colleges I applied to. (Okay, so I only applied to one college...)
I've been to the movies three times this year. (It's an accomplishment for me.)
So maybe I'm not that amazing...

tough to say what was most amazing, but one memory that always comes to mind is a six hour hike I took in the canyons at Zion National Park in Utah. We hiked the entire way in a river bed, in the water. It's impossible to describe how beautiful it was.
most amazing accomplishment: definitely was learning to snowboard. my sister and i took 3 days of lessons in vermont a few years ago, and despite the anguishing muscle soreness and getting sick in time for christmas, i was hooked. it has definitely provided me with an opportunity to meet fascinating people and cure those winter doldrums. i look forward to every bit of snow! plus, a beer never tasted so good after a long day of carving the slopes.
Catching 3 back to back touchdown for my school football team.
1. gave birth to son
2. gave birth to son
3. gave birth to son
They are all three amazing! They're teens and I STILL think they are amazing!
I believe one of the greatest achievement is when I became a consistent topnotcher since grade scholl untill collge life.
Im not much of an achiever... Im just really proud of climbing trees all my life and never fallen out of one. Once i was really high up on one and then i fell lost balance on the branch because i was helping a girl cross the branch. (She started to fall so i used my balance to reverse her falling causing me to take her fall.) So before i fell i thrust the girl back to the trumk of the tree where i knew that she wouldn't fall and i fell. But as i fell i kicked off of the branch sideways and latched onto a branch not too far away. (from there i got down without a sweat) All this and i had no time to think. Its like instinct or something...
We were playing the blindfold game and it was my turn to run after my brothers lightly blinfolded. As I was doing so, my elder brother ran towards an open dry soak-away pit and then made a sharp turn away from it. Unfortunately for me, I could not regain much balance as to make a quick turn away from the pit. Hence, I ended up inside the pit of about 24 feet. The amazing thing was not that I fell into the pit and came out alive, but the fact that I somersaulted about three times on the air before landing on my two feet, still blindfolded. Phew!
I gave birth to 3 beautiful daughters.
My greatest acheivement to Date? Most amazing thing?
Could it be getting my Eagle SCOUT. The Highest honor in Scouting. 3 days before i turned 18. In case you don't know after 18, you lose you right to get it.
Or how about graduating HS on my birthday?
Or maybe it was was posting a 5 minute mile, a 11:15 (2) mile and a 19:40 5K in the same day?
Or Winning a Bi-athlon with a good friend by him biking a 15K in record time and me running to 20 minute 5k's
Maybe it was getting married to the love of my life?
Could it be seeing the birth of my two sons? ( i get queasy around blood and needles)
This is a very hard question to answer. I count all of the above as ones i would pick.
But the one true answer, for me. Is watching, teaching, and experiencing my sons grow up.......Cause i never knew my father till it was too late....
nothing really amazing has happened in my life.
i guess the most amazing thing for me was telling my friend something that i'd been trying to tell her for months, but always chickened out. i felt so much better afterwards.

having a crush, amazing?? no relationship? doesnt really sound amazing having a crush, everybody has a crush, its wether or not u have a relationship that matters
I saved my best friend from drowning. The most amazing part is his size and weight compared to mine. I rested him on my chest and did the backstroke into shore. It was a pretty decent size man-made lake and we were in the middle when this happened. He had a bad cramp. Luckily, he didn't freak out too bad, otherwise he would have taken us both down. I completely collapsed on shore and threw up, my arms and legs burned and were totally exhausted.
Amazing to me.... I gave up drugs and alcohol over two years ago, after using them both pretty heavy for 15 years. I never thought life could be so good and fun without it.
Gaining my 4th Black Dan In Karate At the age of 15 and becoming Champion in the south-west of England at karate for a whole 3 months
(the black eye's and 2 broken ribs were more than worth it)
The feeling when i was winner, my hand held up high my body hurting and bleeding but the feeling was the best the best ever doing karate since you were 3 was more than worth it it feels great.
Also saving my friend from a gang of 6 people.. (2 with knives) from being mugged.
Lots of stuff has happened in my life but Martial Arts is my highlight of everything.

My soul goal in my life is to get to 9th or 10th dan where i will be awarded a Special "Red" Belt that is very rarely awarded- here is a the ranking system of the karate i do.
* 9th to 6th kyu (novice): white belt
* 5th kyu: yellow belt

* 3rd kyu: green belt
* 2nd kyu: blue belt
* 1st kyu: brown belt

WOW, that is amazing, if you could do it again maybe you could become a gymnist
the most amazing thing i did with-out getting broken bones, was when i was going 20MPH down an alleyway on my bicycle(i had an speedometer), and then this cat ran infront of me, and my back brakes were out, but my front ones worked perfectly so when i hit the bakes at full strength i FLEW about 20ft, the only thing that happened was i got scraped by the gravel on both arms(they broke my fall), but thats really great considering how far i flew
I became a christian. That was the best thing that ever happend to me.

Praise God for that.
One of the most exciting things in which I was involved was taking a family vacation to Mexico with my family and relatives. Our most exciting experience down there had to be ziplining through the trees in Puerto Vallarta. Wow. That was incredible.

I was in Karate for awhile (but I didn't much like it, my mom forced me to go) but I think I got all the way up to my Brown Belt (I remember it as a Purple Belt but I remember Blue belt and all the way down until White) and then I got so fed up with it that I just quit. End of my karate story.

I graduated High School with a Academic Award in Ceramics. The Graduation the biggest thing about it though because I have always struggled in school, and not only did I graduate but was accepted into ITT Tech.
I have now been in schooling at ITT Tech for a year and still going. Am on my way to reach an Associates degree in Multimedia
.
Also have finally discovered a group of friends can hang out with who not judgemental on my interests and unique qualities. I have found one particular friend in last five years who has come as close to me as my grandfather.
As for something survived. Maybe it was foolish... but got robbed not long ago by 2 guys with guns... I slammed the door on one of their arms before knew was carrying a gun and no shoots where fired. I also was the only one in family who they didn't get anything from.
I was always in front of the computer. Always playing or watching things or reading in front of the computer. After some time I started studying in the computer and everyone said I was just playing.
Everyone said (everyone but my parents) that I was just losing my time.
A few months ago, I founded my very own internet company, I am earning money, and all of that is by staying in front of the computer. I showed everyone I wasn´t a loser, that I was inverting my time, not spending it...
By now, that´s my biggest goal in my life!

Of course, I just spelled "composition" wrong so that's a telling point to how much there is to those tests.
Although now that I think about it, maybe compost-ion is the more accurate term...
I just remembered another one: on either the English Composition or English Literature AP, there was a quote from Einstein's Dreams and I felt really special for having read it before they put it on the test. In fact I recommended it to a friend too and she called me up later that day or the next (mobile/cell phones hadn't taken off so much at that point) and asked me "what the ****** was that from??? I know you know!" It's a good book, too.
Oh, and here's another "wow" I've pulled: essentially everything I've written from 10th grade up until current day I have squirreled away somewhere. And it's a LOT. I kept an online journal every school day of my first year in college and I would write sometimes 5, 6 hours a day. Think about what that means if 16 of your hours are waking hours. Tthough I got a lot less sleep than 8 hours a day, some days I spent more time writing about my day than I spent on the actual day.
Every time I put up an away message, it is an original and new haiku.
I try to do six impossible... erm, amazing things before breakfast every day.
Having had an infinite amount of girlfriends which all really sucked, worked on myself and now having a lady which is worthy of my love and planning to move in with eachother.
Thought that would NEVER happen!
I'd say Holding twice the bladder capasity of an adult at age 13.
Yep, I can hold 1 litre and proud!
I made 100th of GirlFriend Last month
Adios amigo and please I want reall happened amazing accomplishments and not dreams.

Errm, for me, I remember quite a many years back where I used to get beat up in school, I got fed up, and smacked down the head bully, and got out of it. Now, I am never picked on any more. Sounds like a crappy thing, but it really is quite an accomplishment for me.
nox-Hand
The most amazing accomplishment for me that I can think of is drawing every detail of the most complicated clock that I saw on a magazine. Soon I will post it on my blog, which I will not link to right now.
I'd say my biggest accomplishment so far would be that i was Cinematographer on my first feature film at the start of this year. Its an indie slasher movie based in sydney.
It probably wont make it very far but the fact that i have done it once now shows me i can do it again.
I had 6 operations after eachother on my back
The most amazing thing I have done is attempt to post a serious reply to this topic. I mean, can any topic be better for spam? I think it's pretty amazing that I spend my nearly all of my time on the web, and still have time to talk on Frihost.
Other than that, I did save someone's life once...or something.
I don't remember.
When I was younger, it was teaching myself HTML/CSS/PHP, but I have to say the most recent thing I've proud of is getting my EMT credentials, and passing the National Registry (50% fail rate)
The most amazing thing I've done is hurdle over the basics of unix. I thought I'd never get it.
I've done a crazy project... I'm fond of this D&D stuff, and someday I though: "Hey, I'm going to create a world." Might sound dumb, but anyway... I did it. And so I drew an enormous map all by hand with colors (4'9''X5'6'' I think...). Big project, takes a lot of time. But I like it.
Still, life is long enough for me to do something better, you know.
Another amazing thing that happened to me was when I found the good graces in the noodly appendage of the Flying Spagetti Monster! May you all be blessed by his noodliness...
I did a paper on this in school
The most amazing thing I've ever done is play football (American) which is a big feat for me because I am the exact opposite build for football. I am a tall and skinny person with little strength, but I have made it through 3 years of high school football and am about to start my fourth. I have worked my tail off trying to become the best that I can and I am very proud of my accomplishment, many people laugh when I tell them that I play football, but I just ignore it and tell them off on the field.
I'm 30 and I have nothing to regret. That’s my accomplishment.
I don’t have any addictions, unwanted children, undertaken responsibilities.
My biggest accomplishment is to have done for many years what I thought was right for me, even when it was against the tendencies of the world. In other words don’t letting the world extinguish the flame of my soul.
I know is not much, I don’t have a daughter, I haven’t save any ones life; but for me these things are everything.
d i have nothing to regret. Thats my acomplishment.
i wud say clearing my engg exams was the greatest achievement for me
and see my sister get her dream job was the best thing ever for me!!
I fell asleep in the afternoon.
I drank a bottle of vodka
.
I'm alive right now (doh!). For three times, I almost got dead by drowning. But these accidents didn't make me afraid of water. I love to swin and won't stop.
In August 2001 I became a Reiki Master, which had a huge impact on my life. There are some people who think that Reiki is a joke, but I have seen it in action, and it really works.
Since becoming a Reiki master I have experienced many new things in my life, including starting a new business, getting married and becoming a father, living in a foreign country, surviving an accident and starting another new business (the first was closed).
I still believe Reiki to be a powerful influence in my life, although I have not always used it daily. I also encourage Westerners who are interested to do it more in-depth, rather that doing it the "fast-track" way.
I'd have to say it would be getting into university with a rather shitty UAI (for those non-NSW people/non-Australian people out there, a UAI is your score that's used to determine if you get into Uni or not), when I thought I wouldn't. I still sit in my chair after all these years and wonder how I did it straight out of high school.
I suppose soon that will be taken over by me actually finishing off my degree, finding a girl, getting married, having kids, etc., etc.,
well it was my first business tour.
it wasnt expected to have a good response that time but i was damn successfull.
covering almost four times the target we had made..
i would definitely call it a big big achieveent and that too in my first tour.
It was definitely watching the Lord of The Rings-extended-directors-premium-super-plus editions. Boy, that was hard work!
• I had this strange pain in my lower right gut area one night; it - of course - wouldn't go away. The next day it was more painful and I didn't go to school. That night I woke up screaming in pain and my mum rang the Dr in the morning, he was 'busy' and couldn't come out to my house so I had to get dressed and go to the surgery for him to check out what was wrong. I was in so much pain that it took me half an hour to get put my clothes on and then I had to crawl to the car.
When we got there I had to wait with the other patients before seeing my Dr, he told me to lie down on the bed things they have there and he prodded the area that I said was hurting. He quickly concluded that I had appendicitis and advised that I go to the hospital immediately for an emergency operation.
At the hospital I had to wait for a few hours and then I was taken into the operating theatre just before 9:00 PM. I was put to sleep under a general anaesthetic.
The next thing I remember everything was blurry and I could see my mum next to me, you'll never guess what I said... "What's the time?". It was 10:54PM if I remember rightly. Then I was asleep again.
The next day I had this icky stuff that had seeped from my scar during the night cleaned up and was right as rain, the pain had gone and I was OK. They told me what had happened.
My appendix had been left for so long (3 days) that it was bursting and I had almost died. But the operation had been done just in time, a few hours later and I could have been dead.
They say that appendicitis is as painful as childbirth, so girls: I know what it's like for you, O so terribly painful!!!
• Second to that I stopped my friend from jumping in front of a car
• I've finally overcome my fear of falling (not fear of heights, that's not what bothers me)... or at least partly
• I'm learning flips and my confidence is like a sieve so it's pretty hard for me to go and do a flip if I haven’t for a while, and I can only practice once a week
• I'm currently making (with a friend (I do the programming, he does the graphics)) the biggest flash game in the world.
I think that sums up most of the most amazing things that I have done in my life, I can't remember any more right now
EDIT:
• I did my English (lit and lang (higher)) GCSE exams 1 year early (in year 10) and then started the AS level course in year 10 too.
• I taught myself flash (actionscript), php, some html and some VB script.
I doubt that this will seem to exciting to most. Much less AMAZING.
So I will give you two things.
The second most amazing thing I have done was swim in the ocean.
It really gave me a sense of how small I was. And how big the world around me is, even with modern things like the internet and planes. The world hasn't gotten smaller. It just seems that way.
The number one thing is having kids. Both of them.
It also let helped me understand how small I was. But in a different aspect. Because their future is so much bigger.
Hope that didn't goo the thread up with too much sap.
I woke up before 12:00 this morning
Avoided being (to) brainwashed
I never expected it: I found myself on the top 10 in our batch.
- I withdrew several chunks of cash from my savings and gave them to charity. To be honest, I didn't feel that great afterwards, but I suppose it counts.
- I got an A in Economics a couple of weeks after being on the verge of quitting because I was convinced that I'd get a C.
- My AS Level results in general?
Gah, I don't know. I don't seem to have done anything really big with my life. I never really stretch myself or attempt anything half-way risky.

Unless you can realisticaly afford to do that - and it soulds like you can't - then giving to charity is a bad idea.
The extreme side of this is: if you gave away everything you own to charity then you'd have nothing, soon you would be the one needing benefit from charaties and the goverenment...
EDIT: I'm not saying that what you did is wrong (in fact the money that you gave is worth more than the millions wealthy people give who can afford it easily and it doesn't really matter to them), just that you've got to be careful.

Well done, and welcome to the frihost community!
I actually can't think of anything. I'm pretty Lame.
Wait, a few years ago I saved my friend from getting hit by a car, I jumped and pushed him out of the way. Luckly I didn't get hurt also, the car flew right by my legs.. I think that was pretty awesome.
the most amazing thing i've ever done was to jump a bangi from a bridge.
it was very scary, but i was very brave. it was a quality jump, so the instructors told me. i write everything i experience in a journal, so whenever i feel like sharing something of quality, i will do it here i guess.

One thing, what's a bangi?
It doesnt seem much compared to all the other posts, but for me, completing my first year of a degree at university is (apart from being a father) the most amazing thing I have done
At school I was told that uni wasnt an option for me, to get out and earn money was my future, but after some years I decided to fulfill my dream myself, and I'm looking forward to my second year in september now.
What will be amazing is the day when I graduate and knowing that my late father will be looking down at me with pride of the only child of 5 reaching this goal
ive saved a mans life once, he was talkning on his cell phone about to cross the street, but a truck was coming about to run a red light, so i ran up and pushed the man out of the way. I even got featured in the local newspaper and stuff.

Thanks it happend really fast, and at first i really didnt know what i was doing, so i just ran up and pushed him, lol
Not so amazing, but definitely a rush... at a train station in Aichi-ken on the line running through Akaike (damnit, I've forgotten the line names) a boy about 11 or 12 somehow got onto the train tracks. I didn't see whether he fell, or jumped, or what, but people started yelling and panicking. The "90 seconds away" chime went off just as this happened. The platforms are elevated about four or five feet from the tracks, so the kid couldn't just climb back up again.
An older man jumped down, picked him up, and another college age boy and I grabbed the kid by the arms and pulled him back up onto the platform, then we helped pull the older man up. The man put his feet on the scaffold-type structure underneath the edge of the platform to climb back up, and the first time we tried to pull him, his shoe slipped off and he had to step back down again... We made it with a good 50 seconds to spare, but you could see the lights from the train all the way down the subway tunnel the whole time.
The older man who actually jumped down there and picked the kid up was the real hero, but I still feel honored to have been able to lend a hand.
im still alive as of this moment. thats my greatest. Thanks God.
so far, my greatest achievement was having known my girlfriend. how sweet
I was driving to a convention and discovered a homeless hit and run victim by first noticing the blood on the grass... He had a compound fracture on his leg.
I used his outside shirt to tourniquet the leg with the open wound and called the authorities, of which firemen came, but they had enough equipment with them to keep the man alive until the paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital for surgery.
Pretty cool, I'm pretty proud of how I reacted to this situation.
Well, having a very premature baby and staying strong, confident, faithful and optimistic through 4 months of waiting for him to be released from hospital while the doctors thought he wouldn't live is something I think of as truly amazing. I found strength I didn't know I'd find.
And now, being his mom and watching him grow, change and become more and more of the person God made him to be is more amazing yet. I've found strength, love and patience I certainly didn't think I'd find.
Otherwise, I'm about the least amazing person I know. My most amazing accomplishments have involved whitewater kayaking, performing a song on stage that included the word "rutabega" (long story, it was a lifelong goal...), and learning to do a whole lot of things that seemed a lot harder before I applied myself and gave them a try.
Good topic. Thankyou.
Frankly I think this was a good post question by me.
Quite some interesting things I have learnt about the other Frihosters

If i need to tell the truth, most amazing was when i sail on the ferry from Italy Porto to Corsica, it was exciting to be on the deck, becuase it commed evening and was quite big breeze, and you must be carefull to stay on the legs.. It was most exciting holiday in my life .-) hope you can understand my english well
my greatest achievement is getting on a plane to go to london for my first job and holding it out for 11 months..
That soughta led to my next greatest achievement which is finally finishing my studies..(almost, but doing well).. its been 5 years out of school and finally i have something to show for it.

A tomato is a fruit... you were wrong.
For your information, it is classed as a fruit because it has seeds.

Indeed, it seems that his sister owned both of em
Just to back this up, here are some facts:
| Quote: |
| The confusion about 'fruit' and 'vegetable' arises because of the differences in usage between scientists and cooks. Scientifically speaking, a tomato is definitely a fruit. True fruits are developed from the ovary in the base of the flower, and contain the seeds of the plant (though cultivated forms may be seedless). Blueberries, raspberries, and oranges are true fruits, and so are many kinds of nut. Some plants have a soft part which supports the seeds and is also called a 'fruit', though it is not developed from the ovary: the strawberry is an example. As far as cooking is concerned, some things which are strictly fruits may be called 'vegetables' because they are used in savoury rather than sweet cooking. The tomato, though technically a fruit, is often used as a vegetable, and a bean pod is also technically a fruit. The term 'vegetable' is more generally used of other edible parts of plants, such as cabbage leaves, celery stalks, and potato tubers, which are not strictly the fruit of the plant from which they come. Occasionally the term 'fruit' may be used to refer to a part of a plant which is not a fruit, but which is used in sweet cooking: rhubarb, for example. So a tomato is the fruit of the tomato plant, but can be used as a vegetable in cooking. |
But i don't really want to be off topic and since i didn't post to this one yet, here i go.
I did a lot of things in my life and i can't really choose which one is the greatest, maybe it would be wise to say that the greatest thing is that i got into this world in the first place, but that wouldn't be modest, would it?
Won national literary award for best short fantasy fiction, being able to teach creative writing at my hometown Uni, finished up third in national Taekwon-do tournament, being able to work for brand name companies as a relatively unknown freelance designer, being in love, yep definitely being in love...
I respect people that did something really great, like saving someone's life, honestly thats huge.
Hi, the most amazing thing I di in my life was start a video game development company using friends and neighbours as employees, it is so much fun and the work is excellent
i went on a climbing trip and spent days driving to namibia, camped on the floor of a petrol station, and then overcame my fear of heights to climb a +- 60m sport climb. It was the first time i was belaying from some point not on the ground (the belayer is the one who holds the rope for the person who is climbing above). I felt like i would not be able to make it mat one point! Imagine the feeling of hanging in mid air with no where to go but up and after your seventh try - thinking - what now!
Needless to say i made it, and it felt great!

Whe I got all A's for my exam. I'm not a geek you know?!
well... lets see:
Got married
Having a baby (in the next two weeks! Can't believe i lived through the pregnancy!)
Graduating from College (actually... this has yet to be done, I will be graduating at the end of November, but it's so close I'm already rejoicing!)
The graduating from college thing is a big deal for me. I spent 4 years at a two year college in the Music program then realized that wasn't what I wanted. I'm 2 classes away from actually getting a degree at that school... and my GPA was suffering from all the generals I had to take. When I realized that I wanted to go into Multimedia/Game Design I got psyched up and started at ITT, no matter what the cost (and trust me it COSTS!). The place is great and I've made A's almost the entire way through!!! In november I'll have my associates degree and then I'll be going right on into my Bachelor's in Digital Game Design. ^^ So I feel accomplished!
I forced myself to make up the biggest decision of my life. I moved to an arts stream while i was among the top science students in the region. Science gets harder, but im not happy though i know i could cope with it.
I beat all my other sperm cells to the womb... I can only hope nobody has already used my joke.

Oh man what the hell is that ?
Did you actually eat the whole thing up
I think you did the most amazing thing of us all. RESPECT
I reached the age of 21 without ever getting drunk.
I never cheated in school.

Well, just living from day to day seems to be amazing thing sometimes, I spent 33 yrs in the Marine's been shot 5 times, run over, blown up, beat up, captured, beatup again, escaped, have had most ever bone in my body, broke, brused, or sore. Fathered three kids, single parent for 18 yrs with them, Still not sure what was easier the kids, or being shot 5 times.
Married a few times, been in love a few times, have friends that I can count on one hand, ( i mean real friends) Stood by friends while they went thru lifes hardships, stood by friends as we laid then to rest. Shed a few tears here and there, (yes real men do cry). Said good by to my father as we laid him to rest, Shed a few tears there too.
Get up each morning dreaming of something better, get up each morning dreaming of my next new love
LOL.
As old as I am life is never over and always full of promise.
So the most amazing thing I ever did?
Desiding early in life that no matter how life come at you, to never give up, remembering that no it is not always fair, but it is my life and what kind of man would I be if I did not try to make it a better one.
Good luck
H A WELLBORN SgtMajor USMC ret.
i dont have 1 special thing, i just have tried to be as nice as possible to everyone throughout my life: i don't hate anyone and i don't think anyone hates me
I got a hold of some webspace, and my site is coming along nicely.
Completing it...will be the most amazing thing I've done with my life so far.
Well, that and completing grade twelve next school year...and hopefully graduating so that I don't have to do too much correspondance after that.
Of course, there will be bigger things...I want to go into video game design and make a series whose popularity comes close to that of Final Fantasy. Unlikely to happen, but a geek can dream...
I have never drinken and never done drugs. I have chosen to abstain until marriage and have succeded so far (I'm only 18 though). I got through high school in the top 20%, and will be going to Georgia Tech for college. I also have a job working there in the research institute, because of my extensive experience with computers, which is unheard of at my age...
I also know 8 programming languages, and have mastered 3 of them.
A few lesser accomplishments include making my website, making many counter-strike maps, making several games, building hundreds of computers for myself, friends, and work, and repairing thousands of computers. I have installed windows over 1000 times.
create my own website and use it to earn money
Saving a little kid's life after he nearly drowned in a lake because of stepping in a catfish burrow.
Thing is, I could touch the bottom and I gave him a piggie back ride. Little booger pissed on my back when I did too, then I slammed him in the water.
I've won the International Obfuscated C Code Competition six times, which I'm pretty proud of... In real programming, I was on a team that took fifth at the ACM international programming contest as well.
Saving lives, helping other people... Feh, who needs it

I actually finished one of the numerous novels I'm writing. Which, trust me, is pretty damn amazing for me.
I registered for frihost community today....
Started a band. I'd wanted to for ages. Took me six months, and I did it, and we recently made it to the finals of a national competition. That's happening this weekend, so wish me luck.

I've got a few:
1. I learned to play the flute like a mini-pro (I am working on the Entainer but...GEEZ, it is like on fast forward or something it's SO fast! But, as my flute teacher always says, "When you can't play something as fast as the real thing, play it at the tempo where you can play it, get used to it, then go a little bit faster until you've mastered the original speed) in like 8 months!
2. I learned a REALL hard thing to accomplish and to grasp in algebra in 1 day (a linear equation with 2 variables) when I was in 5th grade.
3. I got the most STUBBORN horse to turn while I was riding it! I mean literally, it was an accomplishment in itself! The instructors had a hard time helping me!! lol

were you in some sort of math club or something??
but of course now i can solve a 5 variable equiation, and even harder stuff (matrices, 3d graphing, imaginary numbers, etc.) cuz im now a junior in high school
my sister is a fifth grader and she can't even solve 20 = 2x + 4, the most complicated thing for her grade is fractions
1. I ran lights for a crowd of 60,000+ people

I'm sure there are a couple more but I can't really think of them at the moment.
