Upon the request from Govt. of India to block some sites (they send a 22 page list), some of the ISPs in India blocked the whole blogger domain. A nation wide protest is going on by bloggers for blocking their basic right of FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION, and by keen readers of blog sites.
A similar ban (later removed) on Y! Groups was there some years ago.
The act is based on the intelligence information that terrorists are advantaging from blogs which resulted in the recent Mumbai Blasts.

So like with the Chinese government. Chinese authorities however imposed bans on blogs that are contradict to the government. These issues i can say are oppressions of human rights.
At least they know what they are not allowed to see.
I wonder how much information is out there that our goverments make sure we never see.
I do feel it is a sad infringement upon their human rights, but it is one more amongst many.
Well Internet is becoming a boon for terrorists....... There should be some control of the authorities over this..... Its good that the Indian government has now realiZed this.
But blocking the full domain?

Well, it's a tough one really. It's amazing what information people share in public on the Internet
The various governments of the world need to balance freedom of speech with state security, but unfortunately it seems that the primary reaction to terrorist attacks is simply to make restrictive laws that don't really stop the terrorists, but make life more unpleasant for ordinary citizens.
If the world's terrorists are scanning forums for information, then the intelligence organizations of the world should be doing the same. They should be able to read the same forums and messages as the terrorists and make contingency plans.
Also if a bomb goes off, and a link is found to a particular forum or forums, then that should be evaluated to see what information was exchanged and how it related to the attack.
Preventive measures are great, but the authorities need to do things in a balanced way so that ordinary citizens are not forced to live restricted lives, which just plays into the terrorists hands anyway.

Indeed, a decision should have taken, but something like this seems to be a in]intelligent act. There are e-mails and msn for the terrorists to use.
terrorists are rediculous the whole worlds failure ot obolish them when there was enough to control has lead to many more and it all boils down to the more richer countries are too lazy and dont like killing people who have done wrong, however they are happy to wait untill it gets too bad and millions of civilians get hurt, you see what m trin gto say?... we have a world run by morons and theres nothing anybody cna do about it :p
I am thinking that its not required because the terrioist is all over the world but all other countries are not blogged why india should blogged its not a good idea through this a lot of useful webpages are not seen.
If they have done it once, they can do it again! beware
