Last week, I had the pleasure of doing a test drive with a 2005 Mercedes Actros (European transport truck).

Not the Actros was the subject of the test, but its contents were. This Actros was equipped with an intelligent adaptive cruise control. The key to the test and the subsequent article was that we would go to the south of France (Cote D'azur) to pick up two containers for the Royal Netherlands Army. By doing so we would be able to test the functionality of this ACC system in real life and determine the effect it has on the driver. I will publish a short item about this ACC next week. Right now, I want to share with you a little video I made during the test. In this video I am driving behind two Dutch drivers. All three of us have just finished loading the containers and are on our way down from the army base to the A8 motor way. With 'down' I truly mean down, this time. We had to negotiate an small departmental route that winds itself down the mountainside.

Sorry, I'm too American for this thread. But WHY are you driving big rigs on THAT road? That got pretty dangerous-looking on that last turn towards the end. Also, I'm surprised how many buses take that road.
