Not sure if this is where I should post this, but here goes.
Alright, so I log in to my FTP. I installed Phpbb Forums under public_html/forum
And I wanted to change that, so I go to delete the folder "forum"
And it gives me an error message:
An error occured deleting the file or folder on the FTP server. Make sure you have permission to access the folder.
Details:
550 cache: directory not empty
The permissions are set to 777 I think (it's readable, writable, and executable to everyone Owner, Group, and All Users).
i've come across this problem before, it occurs when a program creates a file/folder and doesn't correctly set who the owner of the file is. In this case, the owner is apache (the webserver) and you don't have permission to delete it. I don't know how to fix it. i just make a folder called garbage and move it in there. i think and admin could probably delete it for you if you email 'em.
Ive got some FTP problems to:
I can't seem to login into my account from home but i can from uni and friends PC's.
Ive tryied FTP software but no joy.
The only thing that work form home for me is a web site called "www.web2ftp.com" but its only good quick little fixes and changes not for uploading.
Can anyone help plz ???
Also my account is with Frihost.
I hope you're not using flashFXP since it ****** with premissions.
Switch to smartftp, works well
I use a php file before,it can delete every file on server, but I can't see the file .it from europe .almost phpadmin.php
http://phpfm.sourceforge.net/
well, the issue here is some FTP softwares or the sites do not allow a folder to be deleted when they have files under it. So whenever you try to do something like that you get the error.
What you should do is clear files inside first and then delete the folder. It should work this way.
I'm using GlobalScape - CuteFTP Pro 6.0
It was working last night, but is not working now.
Everytime I try connect I get the following message

*** CuteFTP Pro 6.0 - build Mar 25 2004 ***
STATUS:> Getting listing ""...
STATUS:> Resolving host name www.wellsy.frih.net...
STATUS:> Host name www.wellsy.frih.net resolved: ip = 216.32.85.170.
STATUS:> Connecting to FTP server www.wellsy.frih.net:21 (ip = 216.32.85.170)...

1) Verify that the destination server name or IP address is correct
2) Verify that the connection port number is correct (under Site Settings | Type tab).
3) The remote server may be temporarily or permanently inaccessible (try again later).
4) Verify that you have chosen the right protocol (SSH2, SSL, FTP, etc.) and have setup all required options for that protocol.
5) Verify that the destination IP address and port numbers are correct.
6) The remote server may be refusing multiple connections from the same client. Try using only one connection thread when connecting to this particular server (Site Settings | Options).
7) Try pinging the address.
If you are using a router, verify the router is up and running (check by pinging it and then ping an address outside of the router).
9) Do a traceroute to the destination to verify all routers along the connection path are operational.
10) Verify that your subnet mask is setup properly.
11) Verify that your local software or hardware firewall is not blocking outbound connections originating from CuteFTP.
12) Verify that your anti-virus software is not at fault (try disabling it).

I have tried FTP using windows XP which was working the otherday, it does not work now either.
I have tried switching off my antivirus and firewall software, but this has made no difference.
I can still access the site using the cpanel, and the site still works, I just cant connect to FTP it.
can anyone tell me why this has happened and how i can fix it, I really love using the Built in HTML Editor, and dont want to lose it, (it numbers the lines for me
)
