Hezbollah shows increasing technical aptitude.

Recently Israel had a ship attacked by a drone. I thought, great, a boat with a brick on the accelerator, but low and behold:

It seems Hezbollah also has remote aircraft that is capable of evading Israel’s air defense system. Wasn't Israel’s air defense system our air defense system just 10 years ago? They use F16 and F15 fighter’s right?

The whole region is getting out of control, and technology is emerging that will eventually threaten everyone. I suspect that if the situation is given another 5 years, we will start to see other weapons come up that are far more dangerous. If a strong faction can engineer aircraft capable of evading a modern fighter, how long before they integrate other technologies into it? Would leaving now restore order?

I don’t think so, but then I think the entire situation has left our control for good. At this point, it is up to American engineers to develop groundbreaking technology that exceeds anything that a potential enemy can produce. We should get out of the Middle East and use the money we are spending on education. Right now the US is slipping behind, and from what I read in the news, I suspect we will continue to slip until a greater percentage of Americans come around to beating the enemy by outsmarting them, rather than this retarded game of hit the gopher.

1) always wait for final data before judging. please read this instead of Forbes:

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/15072006/2/world-israel-intelligence-says-iranians-helped-hezbollah-attack-ship-iran.html

2) as you can see that was not a drone but an Iranian-made C-802 missile.

3) that ship has a very sofisticated EW (Electronic Warfare) system against such attacks, only someone on the ship decided to de-activate it. why? because they didn't know that Hezbollah have missiles that can reach that far.

4) the US does supply Israel with almost everything but you're wrong here. the people that develop your (US) best EW protecting "suits" are in Israel. so we're not 10 years behind in this specific field, we're in the same boat...

in other words: the technology is ok, there was an intelligence flop. Confused

Sometimes a hig-tech loaded army can be defeated by a low-tech army! I have read of many stories where a simpler divice sucha as a stone is more useful than a high-tech tnak. That is even truer in guerrila wars sucha as that of Hezbollah. Just a the famous proverb says:

"If we are smaller than they, then we are faster and we could defeat them with faster moves."

well Hizbollah have really gained strenght for more than a decade. They have also established support from the masses. As said, Hizbollah have their own TV station, hospital, social services and other big establishments installed not only in lebanon. This investments have somehow increase their political and military status. Israel fighters can hardly fight hizbollah but still Hizbollah will be defeated at the end. But i dont think disarming them is impossible as US have never done this in Iraq.

He's actually right Razz IAI produces Electronic Warfare systems comparable to or better than any american system. And I'm heavily biased in the other direction. If those systems were on the missile/drone could not have gotten through.
