How to transfer forums?

KMKM
Hi all,
i was not well lately , having 102F of temp. and indigestion so couldnt come online... i came yesterday and finally bought my .com domain Very Happy

Now i need to transfer my indiachatboard.frih.net forums to indianschatboard.com.... i copied it ... but as the SMF was registered on frih.net one... so it takes me back to frih.net

I wanna use my .com one without losing all the topics and posts made till now.

Please Help!

Ok. Just use an FTP program to move them - Thats what I would do. I recommend that you use smartftp or ace ftp. You might also have to transfer the database as well - Don't know. This whole domain thing confuses me, too. (I got one yesterday.)

Another idea is to put them all in a tar.gz and do that.

For a while, put a redirect on your .com domain to make life easier whilst you wait.

well i tried that move thingy... but the main thing is that all the files in the forum link to the .frih.net one.... and not the .com one

and yeah i have no plans to delete the .frih.net one for now T_T

What cms do you use? Some people might be able to help you...

Although, I could be mistaken, the links to be like this:
Code:
<a href="index.html">

which would appear as though it's linked to the whole adress when you mouse over it. Actually. I'll view the source code of your front page and see what I can see...
KMKM
er.. didnt get you?
what cms??

i use SMF forums Embarassed

FOllow these steps----

1) Download all your phpBB files (all files in the /forum directory) to your computer via your favorite FTP client.

2) Then Backup your databse through Administration Panel.

3) I am not sure about smf but on phpbb you need to open config.php and then change the variable values. Find out which file needs to be edited in smf.

4) Upload the databse on your comp. and the old phpbb files you saved.

5) GO to phpmyadmin> run a query from a textfile and find the database (.sql file).

6) It will take a while to upload.

7) Check again for file permissions. If all of them are ok, you will be able to run your old smf forums on your new .com domain name.

DO ask again if it is not clear.

Also, I would recommend you to get this done by someone through marketplace forum instead of messing up with your database.

er... what values to change in the 3rd step?
