Funny Wireless problem

A buddy of mine has a system in his apartment where he's been able to
get a wireless connection to the apartment's systems sincce he moved in
in March. Since a couple weeks ago, after his system booted after an
automatic Windows Update, he has not been able to establish a usable
connection. He can connect but he gets no DNS and his TX info is very
low. His RX packets look OK, so he is receiving.

Any ideas as to what may be the problem?

I could be wrong, but the answer might be summer.

When it is cooler, and the humidity is lower, I can find a lot more networks in the neighborhood. When it is hotter and more humid, I sometimes have problems hitting the AP in the next room!

What updates were installed?
This could be the problem but without knowing we can't rule it out!

This is just a guess (probably way off)

Is it possible that the signal he was picking up was an open network, and now it isn't.

My aunt was picking up her neighbor's for a few months. They ended up turning on the security features to make it closed.

Apparently the complex was having the same problem with their internet
cafe. It was AT&T's fault and now it is working, Thanks for taking the time
to reply.
