using PHP $_SERVER commands for phpbb login

ChrisCh
Hey. When people visit my site, they are asked to login using the .htaccess .htpasswd system as used in Apache. The username and password variables can be stored as variables in PHP by using the following code (I hope!):

Code:
$user = $_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_USER'];
$pass = $_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_PW'];

What I am trying to do is to take the username and password that has already been entered into my website, and use it to automatically log the user in to my phpBB forum by supplying the forum with those credentials (the usernames and passwords are the same for the main login and the forum).

Does anyone have any idea how to do this? Even if it was not automated it would still be nice if they could appear in the logon box automatically for the user on any computer (so that users don't have to use the password remembering features in certain browsers).
