Ubuntu 6.06 Gnome - KDevelop on Ubuntu. How do I do it?

solarwind
Hello everyone,

How do I get KDevelop working on Ubuntu. I successfully installed KDevelop but when I try to create a simple command line hello world project and try to compile it, the build fails. There is an error about some auto* tools. I think it's the lack of proper development tools in Ubuntu. How do I fix this. I'll post the entire error output if it is needed.

Thanks!

Check that you have the kernel source headers installed for kernal 2.6.
If you search for kernel in package manager they should come up.

From the Wikipedia article on KDevelop:
Quote:
KDevelop does not include a compiler; instead, it uses the GNU Compiler Collection (or, optionally, another compiler) to produce executable code.

Hence, you'll need gcc++ and related tools to be installed.

I believe that running
Code:
apt-get install build-essential
should install most of the tools you need Smile
